1974 Dansk 2 in 1 out muffler. Weld up outlet and punch a pair of 2" holes in can for new outlets. I dont cut baffles inside to keep noise down reasonable. Old European Headers megaphone "cookie cutter" tips welded on. Coating is from Olimpic Coatings in Escondido and their version of Jet Hot

Which shop did the light box and the hood extension?

skidmark 06-02-2018 12:11 PM

Light boxes are TRE and fairly simple to butt weld in with moderate fab skills. Front hood was done by highly skilled hot rod builder in town. He is very busy and I waited 4 months before he had time to do mine. He does hood fab on car with light boxes installed. PM me if you want his contact.

front suspension going back together. Ira at Tarett talked me into his RSR style sway bars. Old ones worked just fine but these are eye candy also. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1528081041.JPG

Hey Mark,

The Smurf is looking great. Thanks for posting the build so we can follow along.

Who did the paint?

Charles

skidmark 06-06-2018 08:15 AM

Hi Charles,
A customer runs a collision repair shop and has done several of my rs clones going back to the mid 90's. He does a very nice job however my cars show up with all metal work done and need only prep and paint. They also fit me in between collision jobs so i need to be patient. That said pm me if you have a similar job and i will hook you up with him.

Very nice Chad. What blue is it?

Erik Kinninger 06-13-2018 07:01 AM

Dads Restoration of the Blue car is coming along nice, we've had some great memories in this car, It was an autocross/parking lot weapon, also a blast to drive on big tracks  Here are some pics from my 2nd Time trial ever, 2008 PCA streets of Willow.
Mike Gagen in his Green and white car (then bodied as 993 RSR) took top time, But i was 2nd overall, and only 3 tenths behind.

Thanks- It's an old 356 color called "Royal Blue"... Later the color was revived in the late 70's early 80's as "Arrow Blue" (Same Paint code)

Gauges along came back from Joes Speedo today. Dash and knee pads also done. Late night installing new toys. Not sure on final treatment with Rennline dash insert yet but still looks much better. I pulled vinyl from around gauges, prepped and painted the metal with single stage "hot rod " black. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1529178239.JPG

looks fanstastic!

The light boxes are a simple install for narrow fenders, fabrication is needed for the flared fender lip contours.

I used sections from my old rear flairs for that contour. It was almost dead on.

Looking good. Love the 8k tach and backdated faces. The tach is on my to do list.

Pro tip for anyone else who is interested in these gauges: DO NOT google "Joes Speedo", google "Joes Speedometer" (unless you enjoy pictures of the male anatomy :eek:). I'm going to go wash my eyes with soap now..
