Looks fantastic, Mark. I bat around the idea of backdating my factory wide body which has your 3.8 build in the rear but it's so much fun I don't want to take it off the road for so long. That and I don't think the factory Slate Blue would translate onto a rsr longhood very well....

Motor in Saturday. Fortunately I did a freshen up for the previous owner less than 10 hrs ago last year before I bought the car back. Lower end is 993 with Carillo rods and Clevite rod bearings. Heads are welded up around perimeter to prevent cracking. Aasse spring and retainers just in case of missshift. 964 injection with later plastic intake and custom chip. Makes 275 wheel hp. Was great to see the car with suspension compressed and sitting right.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1530484415.JPG

Looks excellent. Hard to believe it's the same car I shared the track with so many times.

I love it without the tail.

headliner and windshield in. I can finally drive without ski goggles. Bit the billet for Clearbra on fenders/bumpers also. Motor/trans much smoother without solid mounts.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1532313845.JPG

Looked great this weekend Mark... attention to detail and fit and finish of the panels are first rate!

Sweet!!!

Just stopped in the say hello to Mark and all the guys at Black Forest. Mark's pictures DO NOT do the car justice. This thing is an absolute beauty! He's working on the "small" stuff and expects it to be on display at Rennsport this year. Anyone with an ounce of brains (and the wherewithal to do so) should buy this on the spot. Good God, what a car! Well done, Mark!

Car very close to done when a long time customer wanders in and wants to sell his 993TT track car. I could not get my wallet out fast enough. Doing a GT2 replica build has been a dream of mine for decades. I don't want to hijack my own thread so look for GT2 replica build thread soon. Blue car is officially for sale.

Interior almost done. Still fighting with quarter window seals. Glass guy left drenched in sweat and practically in tears after fighting to get one in last week. Dealer seals on the way next. Jims upholstery in San Diego did upholstery last week. Headliner kit came from pelican and fits great. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1533871285.JPG

You need to warn that these photos are NSFW!!!
Absolutely killer!! |
Nice built and great info here. There are also worthwhile details about dealing with making a 3.6 conversion CA legal. Same with the conversion and restoration info. I have copied and saved all of this. I've got a LH 911 VR that's been parked too long and wondered about making it into a street car again. Thanks. Also looking forward to seeing your 993 project.

[/QUOTE] Who supplied the rear bumper rubber insets? They look nicely finished on the ends. |
My Dad Mark, is finishing up the last details on his back date Hot Rod. Met up with him at a local cars n coffee last weekend, got to drive the smurf for the first time in about 10 years . Dad and I did just about every autocross from 2007-2009 in this car, It was an absolute autocross weapon, was all torsion bar, and very dominant, Here's a pic from 2008, Autocross event with San Diego region.

Driving it on the street with rubber motor mounts now, and a nice full light weight carpet kit, It was comfy and smooth, Still had the same mid range grunt as before, and made all the right engine and transmission gear noises, subtle and not too loud. Its a sweet ride. My Chiffon SC is the same year as the smurf, Dad wasn't having any of my "lets trade straight up talk" haha ;) Erik Kinninger 1981 911 SC |

I got bumper inserts from Dave Kealoha and I think he got them from TRE. They are a longer version of the original. A few pages back I posted pics of a rib I pulled down so the seal would lock itself in the rib |
