Just a note from my personal experience. The "too long" 11104 seal appears to install just fine. The bonded seam appearance is not ideal, but not terrible.

I ran out of time, so installed the 11104 that I had on hand (the one I posted pics of in this thread). It may be too long, but not too long to work. It conforms to the window. And installation looks to be OK.

A redesign may be ideal. But if you need something now, my advice is to go ahead and use the ones currently available.

^ Thanks for the update WMichelsen.

If anyone missed September post #171, here's the current situation:

-------------------------------------------------------
  • Most of the seals in batch #11104 (printed on bottom right corner of URO label) are too long. All have an unattractive seam.
  • We sorted the seals in batch #11819 and found some that are the correct length (343cm +/- 20mm when the inside groove is measured with a wire), but they all have the same unattractive seam.

Last week we sent a proper-length seal from batch #11819 to a customer with a too-long #11104 seal, this is his feedback:

"I received the windshield seal on Friday and we installed it yesterday. It was a perfect fit and took all of 75 minutes. As I mentioned before, I really like the URO seal because it has a wider outside lip that will provide more barrier to keep out moisture (and personally I think it looks better than the Genuine Porsche seal)."

If anyone has a #11104 seal or a too-long #11819 seal, please email a photo of the URO label (showing 911 541 225 03 and the batch number) and a copy of your order confirmation to "sales at apaindustries dot com" to arrange a warranty replacement. Be sure to mention the "PELICAN FORUM" so that your warranty request will go to the customer service manager, who can access our sorted inventory of replacement seals. These seals are out of stock for purchase.

Sorry for the hassle!

So, I have the receipt, and not sure I have the packaging, and in the event I do I will forward everything...

Question I have is are these going to be available any time soon for purchase? Just in case I cannot find the URO packaging would like to get one due to the wider seam.

Thanks!
Erik

I submitted a claim and linked this thread. I received this response on 10/16...

"At this time, this part is unfortunately out of stock, and there is currently no ETA available for restocking."

Good news - we finished sorting the seals in batch #11819 and found quite a few that within the length tolerance, so we're going to make those available for sale again! These should be available from Pelican and drop-shipping retailers shortly.

Note that ALL seals in batch #11819 have the unattractive seam, so avoid this production run if this isn't acceptable to you.
