I have the same seam
I received the same URO seal last week for my 79’ SC and it has the same narley looking seam. That’s disappointing because at first glance it looks like a major weakness. Like a deformed flaw. Would love to hear from the URO guy about the bond seam.

Hi guys, we're currently investigating production run #11104 & #11819 due to reports of possible excess length/bulging, and an unattractive top seam. Will report back once Engineering completes its review.

![]() If anyone needs a data point I have a new in the package Lot 11819 seal. I just looked through the bag and I can see the seam. A bit of squeeze out on the back side of it. But it's hard to photograph through the bag. David |

Thanks, looks like a few seals from recent lot 11819 are out in the wild, but the vast majority of them should still be in our SoCal warehouse.

So, I am about to install a new seal and the number is the 11104. Car is still in the paint booth but will be done this week. Just curious if this seal is okay to use or not??? Thread doesn't really state yay or nay? Thanks! Erik

So, can someone tell me if the factory seal is still fine to use?
Putting the car back together and need a seal sooner than later. Thanks! Erik

I posted about a year ago after I received my #11104 seal from Rock Auto. Still haven't used it, but I opened the bag and I can confirm the same gnarly seam.
So in addition to the seam, my seal is likely too long? Mark

Hi everyone, we have an update, and a bit of good news:
Last week we sent a proper-length seal from batch #11819 to a customer with a too-long #11104 seal, this is his feedback: "I received the windshield seal on Friday and we installed it yesterday. It was a perfect fit and took all of 75 minutes. As I mentioned before, I really like the URO seal because it has a wider outside lip that will provide more barrier to keep out moisture (and personally I think it looks better than the Genuine Porsche seal)." If anyone has a #11104 seal or a too-long #11819 seal, please email a photo of the URO label (showing 911 541 225 03 and the batch number) and a copy of your order confirmation to "sales at apaindustries dot com" to arrange a warranty replacement. Be sure to mention the "PELICAN FORUM" so that your warranty request will go to the customer service manager, who can access our sorted inventory of replacement seals. These seals are out of stock for purchase. Sorry for the hassle!

This is great for those with the label. As I asked above though, in my case I ordered 2 seals (have 2 cars). one car came out of a 15 month restoration and rust repair. The body guy and I installed the seal (with an unattractive seam) a month ago. We opened both seals to choose the best (they both have bad looking seams), and during his cleanup the bags got thrown out. They were ordered during the time the bad ones were in circulation, but I don't have any bags.

I also bought a bad batch 11104 seal from our host pelican and have not installed it yet. I emailed you a pic of the label and sent you a pm message. I have not found the receipt yet. Thanks, Ken
I have since found the invoice. Last edited by trials935; 10-20-2025 at 03:29 PM.. |

FYI. The URO windshield gasket that I installed almost 6 years ago remains supple, still fits tightly and does not have the seam in the middle.

Received another email from John in sales that they are currently out of stock for the replacement seal and they do not have an ETA when it will be available again and they will notify me when inventory is available to complete the replacement. Hopefully this will have a satisfactory outcome. Last edited by trials935; 10-20-2025 at 09:15 PM.. |

Uro parts sent me another seal, this time from batch 11819, and it has a seam that's worse looking than my original seal from batch 11104 that is probably to long also. Hopefully it will be the correct length. I'm very reluctant to put this in my 88 930, I like the idea that it is a wider seal, but that seam is very bad.

Well here is a fancy new Porsche seal install by a solid installer. They had struggles and huge issues with the install...gotten worse over the last few weeks. Advice to URO - fix the seam, keep the 'wider' seal and have a lot of new customers. Insanely disappointed with the install and product from Porsche. As an edit: Seems the installer for window seals, here in the Midwest, is about to stop this part of their business due to the struggles they are having with bad seals -Front, back, side windows... As stated to URO, make a good seal from the get go and a lot of us will make the transition. I would take an ugly seal and wider seal than what I just installed for the $$$$. I did have an 11104 and wish I had kept...gave it to my mechanic as I thought the Porsche one would be the best choice with the issues listed earlier in the thread. Maybe I can get back...not UROs issue, but wish I had at least tried. Erik

When there is a wider seal that fits, length wise, ugly seam debatable
, please let us know...with fall and winter moisture here in the Midwest I need to replace this new OEM seal soon. Many others here also need new seals.Erik

I have a new factory seal in hand also, and a 964 seal to eliminate the plastic channel trim as well, I wanted the wider seal for just the reason pictured above. ^ Very disappointed with Uro parts for sending a replacement seal from the second bad batch.
