What is this?
Was changing the bushings under the shifter and found this laying in the tunnel below the shifter when I took it out. Didn't see anything it appeared to go on. Possibly just laying in there for some unrelated reason. Can anyone identify this? Car is a '79 SC with a 915. The piece is soft rubber.
Thanks

Looks like the rubber cover that protects the fuel pump electrical terminals where the wires connect.

That could be a terminal cover the main power cable to the starter motor.
A PO probably dropped it in there and forgot about it.

Its a tobacco pipe that belongs to the little german man who crawls through the tunnel to connect everything in there that none of us can ever seem to reach when we need to.

Since it was inside the car by the shifter, could be the bulb protector for the ashtray light.

That ties in nicely with my tobacco pipe theory...

Hope it helps.

This is a soft rubber piece. Thinking that heater control rod would be a hard plastic piece. Thanks for posting it though.

Officer, it’s not mine. I don’t know where it came from.
Son, it was within your reach and you were driving...
