OK here’s another Harper1137 I’d love to be proven wrong but I can’t see that happening.
Administration needs to ban him immediately. Although, I’m sure he’ll be right back with a different user name. It’s unfortunate that there’s not more done to detour these Aholes.
It wouldn’t be hard. Minimum post count verified by actual legitimate transactions after the minimum post count is met. Or better yet, proof that a low poster actually has the part.
Again, not hard. Post a pic of the part accompanied by a legitimately dated article. Like a newspaper showing the date.
I understand that PP doesn’t directly benefit from the forums but certainly allot of us buy our parts here because it’s a community based site. So, although the forums are free there’s definitely allot of revenue generated. Again, it’s past time something is done besides the scammer list at the top of the page. That just gives these guys more opportunities to boost there post count.

It probably goes without saying but there are a couple of "signals" common to the replies scammers send to WTB

1. generic response - saying xyz has "the part" you are looking for, without specifying what "the part" is. Likewise, saying "I have bought 'parts' from him before" without saying what 'parts'

2. low post count, and if any posts, none in the technical forums

At least they have stopped adding the idiotic "you can thank me later" that past iterations of contained

Always run pictures through google images and ask for a picture with something unique like holding it with their hand.

I recently bought a part from someone on here that was a great experience. He wasn't at all insulted that I asked for some "verification" photos.

This is good advice. Scammers will run like roaches in the the light if asked to present a verified pic. Legit sellers won’t mind.
I’ve google imaged known scammers pix and came up blank. It usually works though.

Guys,

I just hope this can help to someone else.

1. I received a private message from GFrey offering his right side pannier because he had a faulty BMW R1200S.

2. After few emails exchanged, we got a deal, I was going to send him, 500$ plus 155$ (because shipping costs), and then he will send the panniers to me (To Spain).

3. He was too persistent saying the Paypal transfer had to be via 'friends and family' (where there is no buyer protection). And I said ok.

4. Later, he requested more money, because the shipping cost were increased (+51$) I said ok, and I did the transfer to him via 'Goods and Services' and he returned back.

5. He requested again the transfer via 'Friends and Family', I said, there is no deal then.

6. Yesterday at 9.11 (Spanish time) he agreed to make a refund.

7. Yesterday at 16.56 (Spanish time) he said the panniers were shipped and I'll get them this Monday, this monday! 3 days delivery??? to Spain??? is it coming via Air Force One?.

8. He broke his word, and actually the funniest thing is like I've received an email from Amid International Shipping from a GMAIL (???) account and also reflecting a Philadelphia address, this guy is in Wisconsin (14 hours driving???).

9. I've kept emailing him and no response anymore obviously.

I'm going to attach few images but, I can share EVERYTHING.

I got bit for the first time, EVER , ANYWHERE and unfortunately it had to happen in my safe place.

These scumbags are everywhere and they are walking among us.
