Some of you need to learn what junk is
Truly-
I throw parts away that some of you are trying to make a buck on. A used air cleaner? really? Curled up shrunk arm rest doors.... used window gaskets...........ohh yea Wait there is more ! Old freeking floor mats ? Used coils? This stuff is not gold folks, its junk! Geesh Used wires? Ripped seats (at prices if you are on drugs) Ok I am being harsh...... But a lot of this stuff is crap What is next, a used oil filter ? ( I have not seen that one yet) I have seen used fuel accumulators , thats a leak going to happen. There, i got that off my chest and i can enjoy a very strong coffee NOT from taredbucks. Thanx and Esp thanx to the rest of ya for selling parts that are real, usable and fair. And a big thanx to Wayne for the place.!

I bought a used coil a few weeks ago. It's beautiful and works fine.
I had posted a few weeks before asking my options for a new coil for my SC, since the new production Bosch parts are apparently junk. I got no responce, including from you. So since a used Bosch coil is apparently worthless junk, what are my options should my SC coil fail? Do I scrap the car? Thanks |

wow
I love the anger and I guess the passion... My only comment is "Isn't it better to provide recycling options than to fill the landfills" |

Again - What's a good alternative to the used coil?
My original coil is 35 years old - I'm pretty sure it's on borrowed time and I want to cary a spare. There are numerous stories of the new bosch coils failing in a year or less. I can't find any other coils that are compatible with the SC ignition. You're ranting about used coils, but you're not offering any quality alternative. |

100% agree with this.
Though it is both seller who needs to be aware of what he is selling (and price accordingly) and buyer who is aware of what he is buying (and offer with justification accordingly) with some agreement between the parties to make it work. I have no problem with cheap, used serviceable parts. They keep a lot of our cars on the road. But when a seller asks way too much for a crap part when you can buy it new for almost the same price that means they did not do their homework.

Very key words there.....DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Nothing wrong with used parts as long as you have some knowledge and common sense.

you are lucky you are not trying to restore a old Harley knucklehead motorcycle. over the years of acquiring parts mostly on ebay is was rediculous the crazy prices people would be asking and selling literally junk because it was "original" yes original Junk. You just have to know what you want, what you are prepared to pay and how far you are willing to go to restore. one word covers it. Research. Goodluck to all in today's hunt thanks Rob

I think the OP may be trying to guilt the sellers of this junk into lowering their prices so he can buy it cheaper!
![]() ![]() Seriously though, if someone prices their junk too high and nobody buys it, where is the harm? If someone does buy it, then the seller priced it correctly. Of course, this assumes that the condition of said junk was correctly disclosed and described. Either way, the market speaks and determines the true value.

abides.

I tend to agreee, and try not to sell junk, though sometimes parts can be made to work again.
Used rubber parts and electric motors are two things i have learned to avoid on here.

Related to this is my dislike of the practice of deleting the price of sold items. Makes 'research' pretty tough.

The unfortunate reality is that as the older cars skyrocket in value, so does, by extension, the value of their parts. 20 years ago, something like an old long hood "T" wasn't rare but now days, you can't really say that anymore. Look how we all drool over barn finds. But I agree with the sentiment. I just don't expect things will ever change for the better. It is fun ranting...

fwiw for someone looking for an original car in what ever condition... some of the items you put up IS NOT junk. a friend of mine picked up some used window seals to add back to his old 356 (which the seals were replaced by PO). he scored some used seals, slapped them on and it matched the patina on the rest of the car.
besides, what does it matter to you what people post for sale? if you're not interested then move on. just sayin...
