Three traveling salesman arrived at a hotel. They were on a tight budget and decided to share a room. The hotel clerk said the room was $30 a night so each of them pitched in $10 for the room.

Later the hotel manager told the clerk that the room was only $25 per night and that the clerk had to refund the $5 overcharge.

Well, the clerk didn't want to have to split $5 3 ways so he took 5 $1 bills from the cash register and gave each of the salesman $1 and pocketted the other $2.

Now, since each salesman paid $10 and got one dollar back, that means they each paid $9 for what they thought was a $30 room.
$9 times three is $27, plus the $2 that the clerk stole adds up to $29.
wheres the other dollar?

LOL......cool link M. The first time I used a computer was in 5th grade. (only the 'senior' 5th graders were allowed to use the computers ) It was an Apple III. They were 7 years old by that time and were really beat up!
In High school, only the 'Preppy's' (or grinners or the smart kids who had money....whatever you want to call them!) were allowed to use the computers unless your english teacher assisted you in to do an assignment.

My first computer was not until 1998! It was a hand-me-down from my boyfriend. Dont reember what it was exactly. He put them together himself with what he thought was the 'best' hardware out at the time.

My thought about them at the time:

I used to build my own computers too. I spent hours and hours tinkering. That was before I got my 914. Now I just want the D@mn thing to work without me having to spend all my time fixing it (that sounds suspiciously like the 14....). For those of us old enough to remember, how did we manage to survive without computers? When my first really nice (not home made) machine got hit by lightening while on this BBS, I didn't know what to do. I'd become so dependant on the thing that I was half paralyzed without it. On the other hand, I'm not sure I could have refurbished the 914 without the internet for info and parts.

Hey I ain't that stupid - In reality, each salesman paid $9.66333........, cause the stupid room clerk STOLE two bucks (Miles was the room clerk - had a vision he was gonna buy a

914

and started saving early).

8088 self built $1700 - put hot chip in to go to 8 mhz - was really hot when I got my 10 MB miniscribe MFM drive.

Before that TRS80 and Tandy Color Computer.

My current hobby
