You say you have an electronic ignition. Is it a Pertronix Ignitor?

I installed the Ignitor in my 1.8L car that I recently sold. It worked excellently.

I recently sold the car and the new owner called me the next day. Said that the car would turn over, but no spark. Coil was fine, etc.

Upon closer examination he found that one of the wires leading to the ignitor black box under the distributor cap had come worked it's way out of the housing. He jammed it in there and epoxied it shut and it's been working fine.

Just an idea...

Also, I once had a set of faulty Bosch spark plug wires. Turned out one of the wires had broken free of the metal connector that clips into the spark plug. It looked intact, but upon closer inspection there was no spark. Replaced that one wire and it worked like a champ.

I would check two things... connection between your coil and distributor and your black box connections.

Good luck!

(914-less) I wish I had one again. Previous owner of three different 914s.
I have a new Boxster, but it's not the same.

re: No Spark

Did you ever resolve your problem?

Just curious.

yes and thanks kellzy,
the electronic ignition(brand new) was shot. the back of the little black box inside the distributor was melted away....? went back to ol' school techniques and it worked. imagine that.
