Accelerator Cable Diagram - HELP!
Can someone link me to a picture or post of how the accelerator cable/linkage looks and attaches near the accelerator pedal?
I am almost ashamed to tell everyone what I found today when going in to do a repair. The Previous Owner(s) must be named Mickey and Minnie. But I DIDN'T DO IT - it's pretty unreal. But now I don't have a reference point, so a good diagram would be really helpful.

A very handy check, before either end is hooked up is to have someone at the engine hold their end of the cable and you reach into the little hole on top of the front tunnel and pull the cable gently back and forth. There should be little to NO resistance, if there is any then it might be wrapped around the clutch cable or other parts in there.
The parts in order from the rear are: cable threaded end in front, a jam nut, the ball connector which snaps over the ball on the end of the pivoting part of the pedal cluster. There is a rod from the pedal cluster up to the back of the pedal and that snaps into a molded hole which can seem pretty tight. One problem that can arise is the ball connector wire that causes the tight fit can wear out or break and then it will fall apart. Also make sure the jam nut is snug so the ends will not come apart. |

Exploded diagram of the pedal cluster:
Pelican Parts: Porsche 914 Foot Pedal Assembly There is a triangular-shaped bell crank that the rod from the throttle pedal hooks to and also the end of the throttle cable hooks to. The cable threads into a socket (and there is a jam nut as well to keep it from unthreading) which is pressed onto the ball on one corner of the bellcrank. --DD

Thanks Dave - it turns out that the root of the problem is two fold.
1 - The PO found some rust in the floor pan and mounted the accelerator pedal in a slightly different location, and thius subjected the bellcrank into stress it was not designed for. 2 - The bellcrank is now bent and even after bending it back, it won't function correctly. I can not find this item listed in your online catalog, so that stinks. I posted an ad in the 914 classifieds here - any other ideas? I need a new (or at least workable) bellcrank.
