Sorry to keep naging but please advise
I am looking for a 73 or 74 914 2.0L, could you experts tell me if anything is obviously wrong with the following add. 1974 PORSCHE 914, 2.0L, Yellow with black original interior, removable Targa top, 5 speed, mid engine, lots of power, Blaupunkt stereo, Monza dual exhaust, sounds good, Ferrari dual Weber carburetor, Fuel Injection Ports & Computer still in Box, New KYB Shocks & New Tie Rod Ends & Rear Brake Pads Still in Box, Hobby Car, Garaged, (Divorce Sale) Must Give Car Away, Further Reduced for Cash Sale $2,995 I know its not much to go on, but I need all the help I can get Thanks in advance Mark G |

Check the body VERY carefully. If the typical rust areas are in good shape, jump on it. That "Ferrari" reference for the carbs is BS, of course. Webers were used on some Ferraris, but that doesn't mean anything to a 914.
Please note that this car MUST have the FI re-installed on it to be street-legal in some states, like California. If you live in one of those states, I'd only go half of what he's asking (unless the body was PERFECT!). There's a pretty large amount of hassle going from carbs back to FI, and cars you have to hassle with are worth less than ones you don't. The "value" of a 914 varies a whole lot depending on condition and how common they are in your area. But I'd say a solid driver 2.0 for $3K is a pretty decent deal. --DD |

Actually, certain varieties of older Ferrari V-12s used six (!) 2-barrel Webers, all arranged along a nice row in the vee. I believe that Ferrari used IDFs, two of which can also be used on the 914. So, one could say that "Ferrari" Webers are, in fact, used on the 914.
