Mine is Sunflower yellow too, all yellow, and I love it. Personally I think that blacking out the bottom kind of makes the car to appear higher than it realy is. I like the low look of a 914. It does have its place though. Just like the black top works with some colors better than others.

The picture is very deceiving. It is New Beetle Yellow, it really is not as light as the picture shows. Here is a picture of my Ghia that is the exact same color! Tomorrow I 'll take some pics with a better camera in the sun.

After reading your post yesterday about New Beetle Yellow I noticed one on the street on the way to our Friday happy hour get together. I think its a good color and will work well on a 914. As you said your photos don't capture the color, although the Ghia (very nice!) photo shows it better. Did you paint the Ghia in your garage also?

No, a friend painted it for me in his booth. He was the inspiration for me to paint my own. He said that he new I could do it because I was so anal retentive about everything on my car. I did all of the other work on the Ghia, interior, motor, custom top... I am currently slaving away in the garage putting the 914 back together. I'm very systematic about it, I start at the back and start the reassembly, the last thing to go in will be the motor! I purchased the 914 in the spring and hope to have it done by the end of the year. I don't understand why it takes some people 3 years to finish a car. My Ghia took a year, the 914 will take less time. I am very hyper and single minded, plus I have a very understanding wife.

a ghia with a straight nose AND the emblem, you gotta love that. are you going w/ the early style bumpers w/ the overriders? not trying to turn this into a ghia forum. i can only handle tire sizes and brake preasure warning lights so many times.

The Ghia was originally from Texas and was amazingly straight and rust free. I sold this Ghia about 4 months ago, a gentlemen came to me and made me an offer I could not refuse. I never put bumbers on it. I liked the look's without. The car had a 150 hp 2086 motor in it. The car was a blast to drive and I do miss it. But with my son in college and my daughter needing $4800 in braces the guys offer was to enticing. That's why I chose to paint the 914 the same color. The sadest part is I've heard that the guy that bought the Ghia never drives it. He just leaves it in the garage, what a shame!! My next conquest will be a pre-70 beetle vert, totally original and stock!!
