HSR West Update

I'd like to thank Chris for stopping by today and checking out the event. It was a tad small due to the event up north. As Chris mentioned I had a clutch cable fail but I did not really know what happened until I got it all apart. Seems that the cable, even with fire-sleve laid on the exhaust andgot so hot it welded inner to outer and just as I shifted 5th to 4th it bent the reversing wheel and the pedal stayed on the floor. It also cracked the clevis in the front! I had the parts and after a couple of hours layinmg in the sun all was replaced and it feels okay. I did find that Jim Patrick in Phoenix has some wheels made of very hi temp delrin and I'll order a couple from him as soon as I get home. I hope to give the other cars a better run tomorrow, but Willow is a very high speed track and my "4" likes the short and twistey ones much better. Oh yea, the couple of fast "6" cars were cranking 7500 to 7800 RPM at the end of the front straight!

I ended up 8th today overall and was pretty happy with that. The video of the race will be about 250MB or so and it would be nice to be able to put the whole thing on the web and let people watch the whole race at luch time as a streaming connection. I'll get it digitized in a day or two so let me know if there is anyone that can do that?

John -

Congrats - it sure looks like a lot of fun and perhaps I'll be out there with HSR West next year if I can get my $#!^ together.

I have my own server with essentially unlimited space, sitting on a T1. I'd be glad to post the whole vid if you can ftp it to me (or even mail a CD or whatever).
