After replacing as much of the electrical stuff that make our lovely little cars run properly (and still not getting rid of the miss at 3000 rpm's) I put the old 2.0 injectors back in that came with the car. It's a 1.7 Calif. EB. Much to my amazement it ran the best it has in a long time and the miss was gone.
I am assuming that either there was a bad 1.7 injector, not enough fuel pressure, or this engine has been modified and requires 2.0's. My fuel gauge reads 30psi. I wonder what will happen if I increase the psi a few pounds... hmmmm. If it's running great now should I mess w/ it more to try to get better??? Ya, I know Dave, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! bruce

Get the car somewhere so you can get a reading on the Air/fuel mix now. That way you can tell if it is running rich or lean. Just turning up the fuel pressure just throws everything off more. If the motor is a 1.7 and you did everything and it still missed it could be the injectors are dirty. OR it could be that you have a vacuum leak and putting in the 2.0 injectors stops it from running lean and missing.
Without somesort of meter to tell you what is wrong you are just shooting in the dark trying not to hit your foot. Try putting new plugs in a running at temp for a few miles, then pull them to see what color they are. If they are black or black fluffy you are running too rich. Atleast you know its not the MPS,TBS, distributor now. Great fun, eh Bruce! Geoff

Thanks for the input Geoff,
I cleaned the 1.7 inj.'s a couple times with no luck. Installed all new hoses complete w/ clamps then checked for vacuum leaks and found none. I will take Punkin out today for a few miles & check the plugs as you say. It doesn't smell rich like it did in the past and I left the ECU knob in its same factory place setting. Ya, it is fun, especially when you get them to running good. I had the car pulling real good (up to 5 k) yesterday in all gears so something is adjusted right! It'd be really neat to have an on board anylizer that would tell you everything the car is doing while driving in different situations. I'm just glad to have the car running good now. The next thing is to find a reputable place to balance the wheels & lose the suttle vibration that happens at 60+. No vibration at 90 though bruce

Some one could have installed 1.9 jugs onto the motor.
Could also be a bad electrical connector at the injector.

Jim, I was thinking the same thing about the 1.9's. I don't really want to drop the engine at this point to find out. That will come later. I'm sure I'll have a multitude of surprises.
I checked all the connectors for continuity and they all seemed to be ok, however, in my quest to see if any of the elec. connectors for the inj. system were bad I found the inj. connectors were reversed. I put them in their correct positions. Just got back from the movies. Took the Punkin so I can have some drive time on the plugs. They will come out tomorow for inspection to see if it's running too rich. bruce
