Temp gage/ light

My temp gage seems to work as it should but the warning light at the top stays on all the time. Any ideas?

timmay:

It would help greatly if you identify the MY of your car for help on this forum. ( let us know, year and make.)

Also, when you say temp gage...do you mean Oil or Water temp gauge?
If oil temp, then it could be as simple as the wires are crossed on the temp sending unit.

If you mean the big RED ! symbol...hmmm, that is not good.

Sorry- I updated my garage information. 1989 944 base model- 2.7L /5 Speed. The gage i am asking about is the water temp. The gage moves up and down as the car warms and cools. However there is a red "arrow" shape at the top of the gage that stays lit. Thanks for your help

Tim, the NTC sensor has 2 tangs on it - one for the gauge, the other for the light.

Either your connector has fallen off for the light and is grounding out to the block or similar, or your sensor has failed.

This is the non-DME temperature sensor, the one that is not light blue that is used for the DME to compensate fuel mixture...
