Starts but poor running 87 944NA

Well, after much testing and investigating, I got it to run after sitting 11 years but 2
problems, will not run on DME relay. Runs on 3 wire emergency jumper. b so but it just keeps climbing to 3500ut not on any of 4 relays I tried.
Secondly, it will not idle. I can increase revs with gas pedal to 2000 or so, but it increases on its own to 3500 then coughs back thru throttle body and falls off to stop.
Cannot find any vacuum lines unplugged, swapped throttle body out, no change. Plugs
look ok, wires are intact
I'm stumped.
TIA
Jim

Check your throttle cable linkage - the engine revving itself to infinity indicates something with the throttle or throttle butterfly valve. Honestly there are so many possibilities that we cant really diagnose this for you. My advice is to go through every major sensor and system, test and start the process of elimination.

Get a solid state DME relay from F9Tech to eliminate that as a possible issue - old analog relays can be bad and commonly are.

If you havent seen clarks, this page is a good place to start and will walk you through all of the testing procedures to help you eliminate each sensor as the possible issue.
