anyone know if the cat-forward system on an '83 can be dropped down in one piece? or does it have to be seperated at the middle of the header?it looks pretty tight as one piece but it would be much easier as one bolt head has already stripped in the middle section. thanks!!

I'd recommend taking it out in 3 pieces; the 2 exhaust manifolds and the cat. There's enough room under there to cut the 6 bolts off of the exhaust manifolds from underneath (don't worry, the manifolds aren't threaded, they're just through holes so you can replace the nuts and bolts) with a grinder. Then slip the manifolds out through the top. I've not yet put a header on my car so I don't know how difficult that'll be but there isn't much room in there.
