help me with this part please

I have a 1985/1 944 car with a 1986 engine. Here is why.

I was street racing (1/4mile for fun) on an deserted road with some friends, about a year ago. Who thought their Rice Grinders, with a WING on the back was faster than my 944, so I had to prove them wrong. So half way through the race the engine started knockin while doin 100mph in 4 gear at 3500rpms. So instead of pulling over and checking it out and trying to save the Motor, I held the pedal to the floor not wanting that wimpy honda to beat me durring these times. when i hit the finish line white smoke poured out of the engine compartment and the engine began shaking villently until it ceased up. comming to a screatching halt. "oh ****!!!" i thought. knowing it was horrible.

so got it home and yanked out that motor sure enough a piston went through the block and out the oil pan.So I puchased a cheap new/used motor from ebay. the engine was from a 1986 944 with 140k on it. I had the guy start it up before he pulled it out of his car so i made sure that it ran before i got it. a couple weeks later I recieved it. slaped the new motor in and started hooking up everything when i came across a plug that didnt match the wiring harness.... so this is the part I need.

on this link i need the sensor #21 part or a name of the sensor so i can get my car back on the road http://www.9ss1.dk/porsche944/dele1.htm
or if its really needed to be hooked up. any help on this would be very helpful.

oh by the way i did win , but it hurt me hard too i really miss driving my 944

God hates streetracers and spanks their wallet whenever he can.

I looked at the link but couldn't see a reference to #21
more info - digicam pic or another link would help.

Um, it probably is. Have you seen the 944's 1/4 mile times?!? Off the line, the 944 is a downright dog... once the revs get up there in 3rd and 4th gear, however, not many cars can keep up.

The smart thing to have done was to challenge them to an autocross... I personally wouldn't be able to live down my 944 getting beat by a rice rocket on the drag strip

The newer engines use a two prong temp sender for the gauge. This has a black plastic end with two spades (flat) electrical connectors sticking out. It's just behind the temp sender for the DME on the block. Connect the early single wire temp gauge to the larger of the two spades.

You will also need to replace the later idle control valve with the early one. This is the valve with the large vacuum hoses that bolts to the block under the middle of the intake manifold.

thanks for your help ill try plugging into the bigger end of the 2 prong temps sensor. and i all ready switched over the auxillary air valve.

and yes 100mph in 4th gear at 3500 rpms becuse i was doing 95 mph in 3rd gear at 5000 rpms, then i switched gears.

and yes god does spank my wallet, and i never learn.

no. 4th gear at 3500RPM in a 944 with the 5-speed transmission is about 70 MPH.

Don't make odious claims that could easily be refuted, especially considering that we all pretty much have the same make and model car that you do.

well if you guys say that 4th gear 3500 rpms is doing 70 and my car was reading 100, then do i have other problems than just engine now???? beings the spedo is drivin from the front left and everyting seems tight on that, is it possible that the tach WAS WAY off too??? or would it be reading 3500 from engine problems???? this is now puzzling me.... so if 3500 is 70 ....... than what was the rpms on my car(4-6Krpms???)

now that i think of it my car would run at idle 1000RPMS (warmed up or cold) then when givin some juice it would hessitate then climb, thought that was normal.

how do i test my tach now that I (you guys pointing it out) descoverd yet anouther problem? should i have the speedo checked too? and how do i go aobut this with the car not operable?

No. The smaller pin is for the over temp light on the newer instrument cluster.

You did notice that the poly rib belt pulleys for the AC/alternator on the later engine has one more rib/groove than the early engine. The newer alternator puts out more amps. If you used your original alternator and the later crank poly rib pulley the belt may not track right.

Please check you oil level before doing the grenade the engine thing again. You can over fill about a half quart.
