You know....I was gonna ask this same thing. Mine is quite rough down low, especially when cold. I have the idle set at 950/1050 (load) to even her out.

mine idles rough at first, and then smooths out after about 2 mins, or just a couple seconds of driving. It hasn't always been like that, so i figure it has something to do with my crappy plug wires?

That's what I'm leaning on....bad wires. I think I'm gonna order up some 8.5mm wire and boots and put together my own wires. $150 for quality wires is BS.

A vacuum leak is likely to make it idle rough.

I've got Magnecor wires on mine. I think they were $89 or something like that. The're non-resistor supression wires. I don't know if i got any HP out of them, but it runs better after i installed them

Motor mounts will contribute to rough idle feel as well.

hey Chris,
Like you said, I also noticed a substantial improvement of the idling (less rough) after installing new motor mounts. I don't fully understand, but think that it's related to vacuum: a stressed (because the motor is lowered with a collapsed mount) vacuum hose (e.g. the J-boot) would not properly seal to its connections. What do you think? Stan

would a vaccuum leak have a rough idle that smooths out after only a few minutes?

engine sounds "rougher" and steering wheel vibrates more than when the car is warm

Every 944(Every porsche for that matter) has been like this.. it feels like more of a rumble to me. A nice rumble, though....

Check the vacuum line attached to the brake booster... as well as the ancillary vacuum lines connected to it.
That's been known to produce these conditions as well.
