starter noises/problems : conclusion

well today I set about changing the following

1> battery earth strap (which was in good cond anyway)
2> engine earth strap, which had some surface "virdigris"
that was abeetch to change, very tricky to get to the engine bit !
3> I could not remove the starter has I had hoped, the 2 bolts were rock solid, despite spraying with wd40, however, the contacts on the solonoid looked a bit worse for wear so I removed them and cleaned up the contacts and applied coppa slip compound

I did not change the DME relay just kept the new ones as a spare !

I also refit the earth straps cleaned the surfaces and coated with copperslip,

so now I need to monitor it and see what happens !
