early offset spacers value
How much are a set of early offset wheel spacers like these worth?
![]() Also, I bought a set of 964 16" "C2" wheels, but ran into a fit problem on the fronts (16x6). They are a 52mm offset already, but there isn't enough clearance for the hub. So I'm guessing they'd only fit on an early 944 with spacers for late offset wheels, correct? So its kindof a unique set to sell, either back to a 964, or this early->late conversion on a 944 only. |

BTW, if you own an early offset 944 and are interested in the wheels, I'd sell them if I can get what I paid. Click one of the thumbs below for the pictures...
They are in -ok- shape. The chrome is flaking off on each wheel, but only in the bottom of the lip, its not painfully visible. Up close, you can see whats going on, but from >5 feet, they look fine. 16x6 front, 16x8 rear. Rear tires are good, plenty of life left. 245/50 R16 Falken ZIEX ZE512 There was a nail in one when I got them but the seller paid to have it fixed for me. Its holding air fine now. The front tires are thin, would need replaced very soon. Includes 2 chrome centercaps w/ full color Porsche logo. I paid $450, so thats all I'm looking for. Shipping would be extra, probably between $125 and $150. Local pickup/delivery is prefered though, so much easier and both of us save money in shipping/paypal fees. I'm in Detroit, Michigan. That is a good deal for the wheels.
The spacers are worth about 20-30 each. Seen great deals in the $30 for two range. What year is your car? All of the following applies to early offset cars. To make my boxter wheels fit I used rear spacers and moved my stock rear spacers to the front. They need to either be machined a little or ground down around the inside rim. BTW.,they will probably fit right up if you just grind down the edges of the hub grease cap. They just won't fill out the wells very nicely. More info....search "tcmdocs944 + spacers"

To put spacers in the front you will have to get the "step" machined to clear the bevel and the hub or the alternate "getto" solution, a combination of grinding the spacers and the grease cap to get them to fit. Call Skip at paragon if you are going to buy new spacers for the front, one of the RennList post said that they sell them already machined. If you are using 205-55-16 tires for the front then 1.75 spacers are the widest you can use, they bring the tire almost flush without any rubbing. The 3/4 stock early rear spacers fill out the well very nicely.
up to 1.75 would still look really nice

Thanks for the input guys. I have a late offset car, so I can't add any spacers (52mm hubs, 52mm wheels) unless I want to risk greater wheel bearing damage. I'm not in love with these wheels enough to want to go into hub/wheel grinding, especially because I'll be trading up to a 951 in the near future.
Next question, would an early offset car owner be more likely to buy these wheels if they came with spacers or would they probably already have them? |

If it is their first late offset wheelset they would love to have the spacers.
...................maybe Fitting them does require more work than the simple bolt-on types.

Yeah, I didn't realize I left out the late offset part of my car until the end here.
Those spacers I pictured are 21mm. Could I use those with stock studs? I guess I'd be looking for the minimum width spacer that solves my problem, to minimize the amount the wheels are moved from design center. So how about it, anyone have a pair of .25 or .5 inch spacers lying around that they don't need? |

You can go up to .25 without changing studs.
Many autoparts stores can sell them to you cheap. I think that you must be able to turn the lugnut 19 complete rotations to be safe... = about 1/4 extra room. Studs are not that difficult to change though....

The studs are just pressed in from the back, and are reasonably cheap if you need longer ones. You can probably find the spacers you're looking for on EvilBay for pretty cheap if nobody here has them.

The rear studs from an early will also work. Hard to find someone parting them cheap because of the labor but not impossible.
I bought my new ones from pelican...pretty inexpensive for the steel ones.

Ok so I'll summarize.
0-1/4inch (~6mm) spacer = longer studs not necessary. >1/4inch = need long studs. I think I need about a 1/2" (or up to 15mm) spacer to do it right. Anyone have a pair of these they can sell me cheap? |
