installing valve seals
i will be pulling the valves tonight on the head i am installing. i will number them to be sure they go back in the right places.
i have new valve seals that came the gasket kit i purchased. how do i install new valve seals? remember, this is my first time doing this work and i am mechanically challenged...

There is actually a tool to install them - you can get similar results by ousing a small piece of PVC pipe.
Use a little oil on the seals to get them to slide. AFJuvat

You can also use a 1/2 inch deep socket.........and just lightly tap them in........you will easily hear them bottoming out.
....and if by chance these are the stock valve guides (smooth) you should use an adhesive to hold them in.......I had to use loctite 514. If you have guides with the cutouts then its not a problem the guide will dig into the seal.

What kind of adhesive should one use to hold new valve seals in place (if you have the older style guides). I see ae1969 used loctite, is this what is most commonly used ?
