On a 83, you need the adapter board and the chip, and there is some soldering involved (not too hard)... just make sure that you have a 83 DME before you start. I ordered the adapter board for my car because i assumed that my 83 car has a 83 DME... but nope, somewhere along the line I ended up with a 86 DME.

i have another theory, someone hijacked wilks account and he is still not answering, etc. i have a hard time believing that someone with FR's savvy couldn't find a computer, somewhere, to answer his email.

You might be correct as he still hasn't responded to my comment & request for help here; nor via email and is not answering his phone. Nor has he responded to an overnight letter of complaint either.

I'm sure that your email is running on overload at this point - there has been a ton of interest in your chips as well as a couple of issues during your hardware induced sabbatical.

I would ask those that have been trying to contact FR Wilk to be patient a little longer and allow him an opportunity to respond to you publicly or privately before using the "bully pulpit" that this BBS has been known to become from time to time.

i think my search for a euro DME or an 87 DME and AFM is on.

I'd go for the DME switch. It was super easy. The only hard part was the one bolt for the AFM. Its tucked in the corner of the air box and I could only get it on half way.
