mirror problems

Anyone know about power mirrors. The drivers side works OK but noisey. I here ticking at the switch in up or down only. The mirror does nothing. Is there any common problems?

power mirrors

Anyone have a diagram or any information of the wiring for this. My Hayes manual doesn't help.

Hi,

I just did a rebuild on both of my mirrors. It's not a daunting task, at least it wasn't for me. From what I've seen, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that most of the mirror failiors are to do with water getting in the motors and fouling up the contacts.

I used a dremel tool and some wire wool to open mine up and clean the crap out of them and checked the connectors. Didn't seem like it was worth $225 each that I've seen online. I stuck the whole thing back together with marine grade 2 part epoxy.

Could have just worked for me, I don't know if it would be the same for you.

Anyway, hope this helps

Early design mirrors (most likely the ones in the 924S) are NOT like the later design mirrors. Early ones use a singe motor and a cable capstan that is shifted to drive the mirrors other axis. Later mirrors use two motors and a completely different wiring schematic.

If you look hard enough on Pelican you can find the electrical diagrams for the early 944's. Here is the mirror schematics:

Is that schematic for my year? And how do I take the mirror out to check the motor/contacts? Is the motor in the mirror assembly?
