How can I Turbo my NA

I was at my friend's house, and he has an old 944 with a blown engine that has to be rebuilt anyhow, and he said I could just have it for FREE! So I figured why not just put on a turbo while I am in there?

Don't yell at me to search, I did and there is not a single post about this. I think this would work out great. He said that with the turbo you don't even need the timing belt because of the Turbine action. We might put some bigger valves in there too, to maximize the airflow. And we were looking at the intake too- what was Porsche thinking?!?! We started making a custom cold-air intake with some PVC and vaseline. Do you guys have some advice for where to start?

My friend already put in a great sound system. The only problem is that he drilled into the gas tank a bunch of times, but we JB Welded it shut, and I will just keep it under 1/2 a tank to be safe.

I also want to put a 85+ dashboard in there too, because the old one is not gonna cut it with the ladies. Is this possible?

...I would try and keep the timing belt on the car ...............

You can turbo anything. Get a head spacer to lower the compression and get an exhaust manifold made and put a turbo on it. Get bigger injectors, exhaust, and a intercooler with piping. Get a BOV or DV...whichever works for your setup (id ask an expert on that one). Now you need to put that timing belt BACK ON and get some custom made software. I make it look easy huh? Thats because Im a true playa. NOW CRANK THAT ISH UP TO 50 PSI AND START ROCKIN'!

Re: How can I Turbo my NA

I actually put a late dash in an early car and it worked out perfect except where I had to fill in the holes in the door panels with black tape.

And also I got tired of all that timing belt $hit and put on a BBC gear drive. It sounds ******* killer.

As far as the holes in your tank I would just weld them up, but make sure the tank is nearly empty

I've done a couple other cool things with these cars and I'm digging up some pictures now.

I've got a spare engine. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to put it in the back of the car. It'd be cool 'cause you could see it work through the hatch!

Terv would prefer to put in a '85 and before dash into my '86. I love the hooded circular instruments of the older version.

LMAO... you know you need to seal those holes in your gas tank with socks right?! And if you are upgrading your intake system, might as well invest in the tornado and add like 50 hp!

Does cross-drilling the tank allow for better cooling of the gas, giving a denser gas-charge?
