Best street pads 944 Turbo non-M030

I have track pads on my 944 Turbo (street fronts were very thin prior to removal). They are too loud for the street. What is the best cheap street pad for the fronts? Thanks.

I have used both Jurid and Pagid.

They are both nice and quiet but produce a fair amount of dust.

I have not heard of Jurid - I'll have to look that up. Pagid pads are too expensive - I want inexpensive but functional pads. Thanks for the warning, I'll avoid the NAPA true stops.

oh my, you used NAPA tru-stop on a 951??? sacrelige!

tru-stop is napa's cheap line
napa's united line (their top end) is about par for stock brakes, but dusty as well. i can't see blaming pads for nosie though. the rotors on my car are worn, and squeak like mad... i just keep telling myself its the 'sound of performance'. i have some pulsing in the brakes, which means the rotors are probably warped from being so thin - i'll have to mic them and see.

on my previous '85.5 i used napa united on the front, and they were fine, on my '84 the p.o. had installed mintex pads, and they bite pretty well, no noise, but dusty (i've resigned myself to dust - its just what happens with use). my buddy had pbr metal masters on his 951, and they are fantastic. i plan on getting them when i change pads on the 951.

Well.....not a 951, just an S. It was right after purchase and I was a bit low on cash, thus the Tru-Stops (really cheap and easy to get). I was waiting to get my balls busted on that!

I would think that Metal Masters would be a good, non-noisy, dust-free cheap pad on the 951. I have used them on my old 944 and have been satisfied.

I'm actually not sure what kind of pads the previous owner installed on my 951.

yeah, i know what its like... (another benefit of getting pads from napa is that you don't have to pay for shipping, unless they're special ordered)

sure that list below looks good, but trying to feed and care for them sure takes a bite out of the ol' bank account. is it bad that my foul weather car is a 944? 60 mpg on the bike really makes it easier to save cashola for the real toys

i used napa brakes on the miata too, not bad. i got some intermediate hawk pads for the front, for use on the track/autox... now THAT is a toy

They been installed since September, I cam say that they are not too bad as far as brake dust goes. Next pad change though, I'll treat the P-car to a better quality pad.

The pads I had (unknown) before I put on the track pads (porterfield R4) were very quiet and stopped the car admirably but I don't know what kind they were. Do you know where to get metal master online?

For anyone else interested in some of my experiences...

Since I tarmac rally my Toyota SR5 coupe I wanted some really potent pads for my fronts, but it is also a daily driver. I had a set of Hawk Blue 9012 Race pads installed. They are typically a club sport / performance track pad. And I went and put them on a street car, along with new OEM sized brembo rotors. I loved them. They are still on there, needing replaced now as they are worn down a bit (along with the rotors) ... at low temps they will not work, and eat rotor like nuts, but at medium to high temp they came to life. Amazing amazing brakes. Lot of dust but only lasted the first few weeks, then cleared up once they were set in.

They need replacing now but I just used them in a dirt rally-x this week.... and they still sure do work, with minimal fade. With really nice rotors I'm sure there would be little to no noticable fade...

I think that the Mintex pads ARE what used to be called "Metal Master"... although I could be wrong.
