Angry broke this today..

Just got my 944 together (came in pieces and it had been sitting for a while), and it was running funny. The car has a low idle and real trouble taking off in 1st gear, but no problem going in reverse. I think it is not even getting into 1st-seems like it is in 3rd- because when I shift to 2nd the car starts to really show improvement. I've looked over the shifter and played around with it, it does not seem to be the problem. So, I loked at the linkage tried adjusting this (pic) and broke it. Where can I get a new one and how much? What should I do to correct the problem, besides getting the new part?

If you have six weeks, you can get one from the dealer.

If that is a bolt that is sheared on the end you can either drill it out and replace it or I have one from a 924 that you can get if you want.

i think that may have been George's way of indirectly advertising. perhaps you should give him a call tomorrow and see if he can help you out.

if he doesn't have one, PM me and i will give you the contact info of a company i use for misc. parts sometimes.

Oh another option is to get a short shifter similar to this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Schnell-Short-Shift-Kit-for-Porsche-944-951-Shifter_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33736QQihZ007QQ itemZ170067252190QQrdZ1

Looks like both ends have the same shoulder bolt. Item 28.

If the threads are broken off in the trans housing you may have to drop the trans to get the threaded section out.

You can make a shoulder bolt by slipping a section of tubing with the proper OD and length over a regular bolt.

George is sneaky like that, btw George, I won my business plan competition back in april using a lot of the information you gave me when I interviewed you last year. I've been meaning to shoot you an email. Thanks a lot.
