OPRV Question
OK..
I'm trying to update my OPRV as it turns out my old one was sticky and killed my oil pressure and yadda yadda.. I have the old 3 piece one out and I'm trying to fit the update single piece in there. But of course I cant because that would just be too easy.. ![]() My question is why does the OPRV stop about 1/8 of an inch before I can turn the first thread in?? I peeked inside and I can see what looks like the new gasket in behind the oil cooler housing has blocked off part of the entrance to the block. Ie. the hole cut in the steel gasket where the OPRV should go is too small. It really feels like thats whats in my way as its the only thing I can see in there that changes the size of the 'tunnel' the OPRV slides down. Been at this for hours lol I just wanna finish up!!

Is it possible you have the OPRV for an 87 engine? IIRC it is a bit longer than the retro-fit unit for the 86 engines.

the one you want is PN# 944 107 035 11 NOT 944 107 035 02.

Ya looking at side-by-side comparisons now I'm kicken myself...ugh!! Of COURSE it couldnt be as easy as swapping them lol
Anyways another hit on my part: I never ran proper diagnosis beforehand...only after I got everything back togather did I decide to run some tests...and sure enough oil wasnt even reaching the damn cooler. Well that was a waste of a nite... So I'm gonna prime it. I suspect that I may have just vaporlocked it during the last oil change or two. (Been changing oil frequently as its a project car.) Pressure was on the dot a week or two ago..
