Engine dies after revving.
Ive just dont the cam/balance shaft belts on my car. Put it all back together and it fired up first time. I left it idling for a while and it was fine, sat at 850rpms for a minute or so. Revved the engine a bit and noticed that the idle speed had dropped, eventually it dropped to around 200rps and then cut out. Any ideas what could cause that?

I would check the timing belt again for correct timing and tension. And also check the Distributor Rotor. Hope it just the rotor came loose not the timing belt jump tooth.
I have a habit when something is wrong, first thing I check is what I did. Because in my opinion when everything work before I replace any part it should be the same or better. It sure sound like the Dist Rotor come loose (drn that little alan bolt) LOL. -------------------------------------------------- Bud 87 930 black 86 951 black 87 944S white 83 944 N/A White Auto 83 944 N/A black 86 944 N/A red parts car |

Phew, false alarm. The battery was low after some messing about with the stereo. My old man thinks it was the starter disengaging and reengaging or somthing. Running sweet as a nut now. I was worried all last night I may have bent a valve :S.
Edit, That makes no sense in response to the original post LoL. New oil has fixed the mentioned problem. The reason I was worried I had bent a valve was due to a horrible clunking noise the engine made when I tried to start it last night .
