Quick Question: AC compressor fitment

Hello,

I have a 1985.5 944. I have an AC compressor from a 1984 944. Are they the same?

IIRC the compressor changed at some point, but I don't remember if it was from pre/post 1985.5, or pre/post 1987.

Please only answer if you are certain; bad advice would waste money and time, and time is particularly precious to me right now.

Thanks,

Tony

EDIT: Just looked it up . . . looks like change is at early to late 1985. If I'm wrong, let me know.

Thanks,

- Tony

Yes, early and late a/c pumps are different, the early pump fits cars made thru January 1985, and the late style pumps are on cars made from February 1985 on.

Early cars had a 6E171. I'd replace the shaft seal on the 10P15. Don't let the core go. Use the 84 compressor for trade value at worst, although it won't work for your application.
