Not today, but this week'ish: I ordered parts, took some pics, looked at it, talked dirty to Kyle, and ordered some more parts. I'm getting close, I wish it would just be over, it's starting to get annoying.

Running solid mounts, so this was put in a few weeks ago.

Thumbs up 4° offset Camshaft Key installed

Today I did it. I did the timing belt and balance shaft change AND installed the 4° offset Camshaft Key.
So together with Joshuas MAF-Kit my car is now rejuvenated and runs really great.
Next Mod --> MSDS Headers are already ordered.
Hope to upgrade soon.

Thanks Kyle. I did kind of..... go the extra mile.

Speaking of extra mile, drove the car today, and the odometer still works.

Installed cooling fan assembly that came off a turbo so my 84 now has the six blade setup. The problem is that the connectors, while they fit to the wiring harness, are 90 degrees thus will run into the AC/alternator and power steering belts. I'll have to splice the later 180 degree wire harness connectors tomorrow.

Oh well. **** happens. While I have the car off the road for a clutch/transmission replacement I plan to refresh the steering/suspension as well. It needs it badly. Maybe if the suspension wasn't original and beat to hell from the PO I would have made it. On the bright side, this gives me an excuse to get a new set of wheels I think I might pick up a set of the Sport Edition Cup 4's from Tire Rack with some Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires

Well, the CD playback in the '44 was getting a bit, shall we say poor? So, thought it's about time to actually have a look at the rear speakers....here's one:

Hmm..no wonder playback was less than impressive

I thought blaupunkt equipment was supposed to last! They have only been in since '88 - hardly used!!

Anyway, here are the replacements, a nice shiny set of JBL's:

Went for a drive and all sounds sooooo much better now.

Hit about 75mph when the rubber windscreen (shield) strip decided to come away. Bit scary having that wave around at that speed, so drove home a bit slower - rubber mastic has been applied.

Well, if that doesn't sum up old Porsche ownership, I don't know what does! Fix one thing, and find something else on the test drive.

Congrats on getting the new speakers in, anyway.

Today I spent five hours trying to get the engine block out of my 944 project and damaging my hands. Mainly on the stubborn speed sensor bracket and trying to get to the bellhousing bolt near it. Ugh.

Engine still isn't out and I am tired and in pain.

Why don't you pull it with the bell housing attached. I've never seen it done the way you describe.

Living with a Porsche 944: Engine out the top - Easy Peasy

I did also try to get to the torque tube to bellhousing bolts, to do it that way, but one of the starter bolts is a giant allen bolt (what the heck?) and I don't have a wrench for it, so I can't get the starter out of the way. That will be the next step in the process once I get such a wrench.

Sanded the hood on my 84 (with Mand's guidance, as she works in a body shop) ready for paint tomorrow, then started prepping the top of the 87 block for the new HG.

PorscheNut924 - you're on the right track. 9 pressure plate bolts, 4 bell housing bolts, 4 motor mount bolts and out she comes. I think this is the best way, as leaving the bell housing attached leaves you less room fore and aft. If the sensors are stuck or the bracket won't come off just break the bracket. New one is about $35. Cheaper than two hours trying to be nice to it.
