I literally bled for my car yesterday, didn't get anything done though. Socket wrench slipped out of lock and I hit myself in the head with the torque bar. So much for not getting around to getting a breaker bar. 4 stitches and 4 hours in the urgent car.
Fun times.
Going to change brake pads on the 911 and air oil separator seals on the 944 S.

Ouch. I tore ligaments in my ribs once by hitting myself with a 1/2" breaker bar while replacing my steering rack. That mistake certainly slowed down my repairs .

Did solve the issue with the lack of boost after installing the electronic boost controller. Could not get more then 0.7 bar even after changing the WG spring from 0.5 to 0.7 bar. Yesterday evening put a plastic tightener on the hose that goes from T connector to the bottom of the WG. Her is the picture before the "repair"

This morning started the car and drove the highway. After 10 minutes when the engine was warm floored the gas pedal (5th gear, around 3000 rpm) and felt big boost. Just after 2 seconds looked at the boost gauge and it read 1,25 bar and at that moment either CV or the chip cut the air or fuel. Stopped, adjusted the EBC at around 0,8 bar.

It's so good to have the boost back. I get good boost numbers already just below 3000 rpm. When I will have time, will fine tune it and set around 0.9 - 0.95 bar up to 4500 and dropping to 0.7 bar at 6000 rpm.

3rd week of recovery from knee replacement surgery, working on indoor stuff on my resto 951. Seats are being redone and gauges cluster being rebuilt. Be good to get back under the car so I can finish the engine compartment. New turbo, ignition, injectors, vacuum lines, etc.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Drained the Swepco out and put MT-90 in. Much better. Adjusted the parking brake and fixed a non-functional seat switch. Bad factory solder joints on the wires to the switch. Nice to have a fully functional seat.

Next time I take it for a spin it'll be a 3-1/2 hour drive home. Still more to do, but feel comfortable enough with how it runs and everything to bring it home.

Washed her and stared at her thinking of all of the fun jobs i have coming up this season, i.e. belts, oil pan gasket, ball joints. then i remembered she's 200k miles old and still looking good.

Opinion: swap out transmission oil, if unknown history in new to you car, or leave it in if it works?

Nothing like fresh tranny fluid...I have a screen shot of the factory recommended stuff. Mobil PTX is pretty awesome in cold weather if you venture out in 'weather'. Make sure the fill plug comes free before draining. Mine was over torqued at some point.

Did the sending unit seal for the fuel tank....ideally I should drop the tranny and inspect the other rubber bits.

Pulled the manifold on my S, swapped the DME grounds, broke the vacuum line connector on the brake booster valve, MacGyver'ed that back together for now, broke the wires on a knock sensor connector, soldered it back together, installed everything back in and the car runs! Throttle response is a little slow though, or maybe I'm too used to the 996 now.

Worked on rewiring the primary cables and grounds. It solved the surging of the lights but now my battery light is on now.
Any suggestions on what may be wrong or should I just disconnect the light

when refreshing the 944S for my bro, I was replacing the PS reservoir, and barely touched the connector for the hall sensor. it shattered like glass. so had to directly wire/solder that connection. over time I have read this is not uncommon. that connector is just above the headers.

still holding up after several years. next up the TB/WP, etc for it. parts are in.

I did a bodge job of pounding back a little dent in the front fascia panel. That broke and split the paint, then I had to try to sand, prime, paint and clear coat a fix. Clearly I need practice. At some point, i will likely have that panel, the headlight covers and hood redone. Rock chips galore. The Guard's red paint match kit I got really works well, however. So, that's nice.

I followed all of the drainage lines and replaced several, including the fuel filler overflow, which would leak petrol into the car. Got new lines run and venting outside the car for all drainage channels.

Tested the tail light assemblies for weatherseal. Looks like it was done in recent years. Still tacky and spongy sealant. I had just bought a big roll just for that, too.

Received, sanded, primed and painted a new 944 rear end emblem. Mine had been stolen or not replaced after repainting the tail.

Received the Rennbay power steering pump reseal kit. Scared to begin.

Received my all new Bosch plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. Looking forward to getting those on.

Ordered all new brake rotors and pads. I was advised that mine were too scored and uneven to function well, even though the brake pads have loads of life remaining. Might as well start fresh. Between sales at various vendors, I got some good prices.

re: your power steering pump kit - there's a youtube video or two showing exactly how to do it - this turned out to be one of the simpler and quicker fixes for me.

You should be fine with the rest, just be prepared to test fit everything once or twice before you make any change permanent, and don't expect anything to go together first try.

Best
Chris

You're selling your car Gaw? Getting a new one or getting out of them?

I started my 87 S, ran if for a while. Has been sitting in the garage for over a year and a half. Redid the engine harness and plugged some vacuum leaks. Looks like a ground issue was causing the overheating I had for a while.

Let's hope it passes smog!

And the other day I took a pic of my 996 milage, didn't even notice the time until after.
