The fail point

You can see where the glue is coming loose. It peed a bit on the floor one night and the pressure test showed a drip down the heat shield under the valve.

Finally got my S back on the road after a long time laid up for new belts, rollers, WP, front oil seals, coolant hoses, manual steering swap, and new front swaybar. Feels great, except I know she's gonna be laid up again before too long for a front suspension refresh.

Can't wait until I'm finally caught up on all the PO's deferred maintenance and I can drive her more often than wrench on her!

I finally pulled my instrument cluster and got some functioning dash lights!

All without even breaking a tab. I broke a bunch of plastic doing that on my Volvo, and that is 15 years newer.

I want to wire up some foot well leds to the door open switch. For some reason, the overhead light isn't activated by door opening, just the rocker switch.

Repainted my wheels after having my local independent mechanic pull the 13 year old tires off. I will have the new tires put on on Monday after waxing the wheels.

Before.

After.

After being garaged for six years, I started the long process of getting my 83 back in running order. She'll be a stripped down street/track car when I'm finished.

Today I began the daunting task of putting my dash in and the rest of my interior back together. I've been putting it off for weeks, but I felt bad just letting my car sit without any love so I decided to finally tackle it tonight. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Got a smog test, passed on the numbers, but the technician was too good at his job so he tested the EVAP system that no one has tested before. Found a leak. Sigh. Going to try a different place on Monday and then chase down the leak eventually.

Also, my headlight motor stopped working and became super hot to the touch.

Just fined tuned my EBC - it took me 20 minutes, including reading the manual. Now I have it set as I planned initially. I have around 13.5 - 14 PSI up to 4500 rpm, then is starts a linear drop to around 11 PSI around at 6000 rpm. Still have the original head gasket and the engine was never "opened" in its 27 years and 140 miles, thus don't want to put much stress on it until I change the bearings, change head gasket and do some other things if required while there later next winter.

Would be interesting to see how much HP does it have now. The engine is original, it has 3 inch cat-less exhaust (including down pipe), Tial WG, EBC and A-Tune. Might bring it to dine later this summer. I think it might have some additional 25 - 30 HP in the whole rpm range.

I used Wurth. I made a quick booth in my garage since I expected the flake to go everywhere.

Only issue was that a lot of the flake settles back on the painted rims leaving a rougher than expected finish. They look fine though so I will just polish them a bit with some wheel wax.

I was careful to move my wife's limited edition black on black with even more black Evoque way out of the way!

Converted to a manual sunroof. Replaced the cookie cutters with 16x7/8 Ronal R9's! Too bad the tires on them are flat spotted from sitting too long.

those are great-looking wheels 'motorwinder'. They have a very 80s aesthetic to them that matches the early cars nicely.

I wasn't too sure how I'd like the red centers, but now that I look at them it's grown on me. I guess I'm a little bit of a pursit, but I like keeping a car period correct as I can. At least when it comes to appearances.

I started my 87 S, ran if for a while. Has been sitting in the garage for over a year and a half. Redid the engine harness and plugged some vacuum leaks. Looks like a ground issue was causing the overheating I had for a while.

Let's hope it passes smog!

And the other day I took a pic of my 996 milage, didn't even notice the time until after.

Well, I still have my 986 that I like a lot. I don't have the time or patience for my 944 anymore or garage space... it has been replaced by my Kawasaki Ninja lol...

I haven't DD'd my 944 for over 1.5 years.

I was not 100% happy with the finish so I hit the rims with a wool polishing pad on my buffer. Wow what a difference, smoothed and evened out the coat a huge amount. Much happier now. I will take a look at it in the daylight and see if it needs nor polishing/cutting.

Are you going to clear the wheels? I was curious if the wurth was closer to matching the existing paint on the center caps.
