QA1 rear shocks on steel arms
I've seen on the 924 Board that some folks are using QA1 externally adjustable shocks on steel arms in the rear. What I can't seem to get an answer on is if you can actually access the knobs with them installed. Anybody here use QA1 shocks with an early car?

1) you shouldn't need to adjust them that often for a track only car. Worst case, pull the mounting bolt to adjust them. Still easier than Koni's that need to be compressed to be adjusted.
2) if it is an issue, one could mount them upside down to see if that works better. 3) once could also cross reference to a similar universal racing shock in the same size that might have better adjustment options (say an external reservoir for example) 4) Did you try contacting the OP directly? He may have missed your post since the board software there can be buggy at times.

1) It's not a track-only car I'd be using them on. I've currently got Konis on the rear and if I can't get at the knobs to adjust them, I'm not going to swap.
2) I need to get out there and see what the top mounting point looks like. I haven't actually paid much attention to it given how much time I've spent under the car 3) The QA1s are attractive because of the low price. One with an external reservoir is almost certainly going to be quite a bit more expensive. 4) Yes, I have, but somehow I missed that he's got his e-mail listed in his profile. I'll give that a shot.

You have a link to the qa1 part number? or a link to the 924board.org thread?
Shouldn't these work on aluminum arm cars too? |

They should be easier to use on aluminum arms. because the bottom mount would just need an adapter like what people already use for coilovers. I'd be looking at using the ones with the poly bushings and having some spacers machined so I can use the stock 12mm hardware. The spacers I'm thinking of would replace the sleeve that's in the bushings and convert them to a stock width. I guess the guy who posted that thread no longer owns the car. He says he thinks they could get to the knobs without unbolting them, but isn't entirely sure.
