944 Clutch pedal problem

Hello everyone. I have a 82 Porsche 944 and I recently replace my slave and master cylinder as well as re-enforced my firewall after realizing it was cracked around the master cylinder because my clutch pedal was sticking to the ground.

I just got finishing re-installing everything and I bleeding the clutch (using a power bleeder which makes things so much easier) and checked for leaks. My clutch pedal is still not operating correctly, I messed with the clutch return spring and the master cylinder distance but the pedal still won't come back. What am I missing do I need to mess with the distance so more in the return springs or should I look elsewhere.

You might have better luck bleeding the clutch system the old fashioned way,that is with somebody pumping the clutch pedal from inside the car.

It seems power bleeders don't work too well on newly installed clutch masters/slaves !

not true at all. in fact, while i agree that vacuum type bleeders don't work (i'd say they suck, but that was the obvious joke) the best way to do it is with a motive power bleeder.

the key is to have the nose slightly higher than the tail, and to make sure to never let the fluid in the reservoir get below the pickup hose.

also, the high pressure line is known to balloon, causing these problems. it fails from the inside, so you can't see the problem by looking at the hose.

You want the ass of the car as high as you can get it. My valance damn near touches the ground when I do it. That puts the bleeder further "up". Watch your fluid level as bleeding.

So the common consensus is that I just need to re bleed the clutch and that it dosnt have to do with the spring?

The spring doesn't cause the pedal to return upwards, hydraulic pressure in the master cylinder does. Where about in Orlando are you? I find it somewhat ironic that I am doing my master/slave tonight and I live in minneola. I also have a motive power bleeder, just sayin.

I figured but when I removed the spring the pedal returned, also I'm in winter springs

A-HA! I figured it out the rod that attaches the master cylinder to the clutch pedal was not extended out far enough, everything is working now except the car give me trouble when I put it in reverse, the car stumbles, any ideas? Thanks
