How many layers of fiberglass did you lay? How does the assembly attach to the dash?
Thanks! And surprisingly only one layer did the trick just fine, considering that the foam is there as back bone. And shhhhh don't tell anyone, it's double side taped to the dash lol, works like a charm, holds up pretty damn good, after all the pressure applied for removal and mounting of iPad.

Is the 86 944 dash the same as an 87 924S dash?

What u want is like a small dock? Straight up and down or laying sideways? And believe it or not, it's double sided tape holding it in, I've had it on there since July. And it's on there pretty good, considering all the pressure and pulling applied for the mounting and dismounting of the iPad.

Hehe, there's the shortcut. Anything that saves disassembling the dash is all right by me... If one already had the dash out, a few L brackets in the right places could attach one of these with negligible aesthetic blemishing on removal.

The 924S has the pre-85.5 (i.e., "old") dash. 85.5+ 944's have the newer, smoother dash with vents where the center speaker grill is in the old dash. There'd be some redesign involved.

Exactly! A small dock that looks exactly like that one for the iPad, except for an iPhone 5. And the magical wonders of double sided tape. I was originally thinking some form of velcro, but the tape is probably better.

Nice work. Well done. For me, however, I bought my 1983 944 for one major reason. I do not want anything but pure driving. I just want the sound of the engine and gear shifting and g's on the corners. I have a new BMW and the damn thing practically drives itself. It is refreshing to have no power steering, no DSC and not iDrive. Just a gear shift, pistons pumping, Gs and a winding road.

Hmmmm actually it looks like I can fit one down where the radio goes. Replace the radio with an iPad, or hide the radio behind the iPad, only problem is changing the radio volume when iPad is in, does your radio have a remote?

Thanks, and I totally understand. Everyone has their opinion, I'm only a 19 year old kid, I'm jam packed with tech haha. I've always wanted to install an iPad there haha.

Got it. I'm an old guy. Funny. Keep it up and you might be designing the next mode of personal transportation.
