Window tint
I want to tint my windows but not sure what to do about the defrost grid on the rear hatch. Remove the grid, or can it be tinted over?

If you tint over it after a while it will bubble up on the grid. It really looks trashy, I'm not a big fan of tint anyway. If you have to do it just unplug the switch, a lot easier than taking off the grid.

If the pro's do it..... it should hold out well.
I have had the tint on for over 2 years. I use the rear defroster regularly during the winter...... I am sure overtime it will start to break down.

I've had mine for two years and still no bubbles. I'm sure the professional tinters know what to do to prevent such things, it's not like Porsche was the first ones to come up with rear defrosters. (My Pontiac Catalina had one, and it was tinted, and never no bubbles in 5 yrs.).

get a good metalized film and you won't get bubbles -- even in the defroster area. Bubbles happen from cheap matterials or poorly installed DIY'er jobs.

I would say that hand on heart, it is def, the materials.
DO NOT REMOVE the grid. most GOOD, tints are fine for the DIYer, follow the instyructions to the letter and dont attempt to "wing it" or ignore anything. a LONGGGG while ago I mirror tinted, my capri, and it did buble where the grids where. Shortly afterwards on another Capri I used a more expensive one, SAME TECHNNEQUES and NO bubbles you can DIY, but get the best you can buy

Pro installation will be done, that way any problems and they fix it. Also lack of a heated garage at the moment.
