Misc trivia - should be easy
Some trivia I have kicking around like usual:
1. Rebuilding CV joint with the GKN kit - which face faces where? I assume the thin channel at the edge of the joint is where the boot large rim mates, and therefore on the outside edge. Also which way does the concave washer face - I assume opening toward the joint. 2. What fasteners attach the heat shield to the late NA? Especially to the speed nuts. I made a mess of mine, and the piece isn't in the PET. 3. Which way do the exhaust hanger pieces - the one between the cat and muffler - face? |

To answer your first question I'd start with Van's excellent two-part video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsytyVzokBg or irinna's video which can also be found on youtube at http:/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DY1VECxKCHs
This is not a difficult job really. One tip I'd offer is use of the top part of a jack stand as a wedge under the tire when removing the 12 point bolts. There are six bolts per joint and naturally the wheel will want to rotate if you don't secure it. This will save you getting out from under the car each time you need to spin the tire.

[CV joints] OK good call, rewatched VanSvenson, I was right.
How about non-hardening sealer between the boot flange and the joint? |

Sealer is not necessary as long as the mating surfaces are good and clean.

Did some homework - for the heat shield - Looks like 2X M5 and 2X M6 fender washers, 2X M6 hex bolts (of some length/pitch), 2X M5 screws of some type - sheet metal? Thinking about some red Loctite.
