hatch motor arm broken

Is this piece worth repairing? JB weld?

Is it common for these pieces to break or is something going that causes this?

JBWeld won't hold it together if that's what you're asking. They're tiny, thin, cheap metal parts that are basically designed to break rather than the motor or cable. You don't need it unless you pop your hatch from the drivers seat. It isn't used if you use the key from the back.

And you can buy a replacement from Porsche if you are so inclined and have $130 to shell out for literally 2 cents worth of pot metal. Yes, one hundred and thirty dollars for that...

Ouch!

My hatch won't open with the key either. So I have to get in there and open it manually to adjust things I suppose.

If you actually buy it from Porsche you can save nearly $30, try the ones with online stores like Sonnen, Sunset, etc

That's probably why that piece broke. Crawl inside and get the hatch open and when it is, lubricate everything very well. Make sure your latches move on their own (you want them to close on their own, you shouldn't have to force them closed). Clean off all the rust on the pins and make sure everything is lubed well. From there you can adjust it as needed.

So I got the hatch open from the inside. And it looks like nothing can open the hatch but the motor?

Is that right on an 89 s2? I turn the key and the motor runs but I don't see any cables that would open the hatch should the motor go bad?

What unlocks the latches are the rods from the lock to each latch.

Did a little searching and I guess the S2's have to use the motor to open the hatch which means no rods to manually open the hatch. From here, I would assume your only option would be to replace that part on your motor with a good used one. You could also try and convert to an earlier manual system but that's much more work than actually replacing that one small part that broke (that'd require new receivers, lock, rods, etc).

Hmmm on some web stores PN 94462482400 works from 84 944 on up and some say up to 88.

I am guessing they are all the same though.

In the meantime I am going to clean everything up. What grease are you guys using?

I have a 1988 porsche 924S. Mine is also broken. Does anyone have one of these for sale for a 1988 and up? They are different from the early model.
