Timing belt tensioner

Anyone know the cost of the Porkensioners & or the price of the rebuild kit for the stock Porsche timing belt tensioner. I have a '78 928. Thank you

You can actually ask Porken yourself. I remember asking him this too, but can't seem to remember how much he told me.

Here is his website: http://liftbars.com/

Roger at 928's R Us carries the whole kit including the Audi tensioner that is needed with the set up.
He worked it out with Porken to be a supplier of a completed kit instead of just the bracket and installation instructions/parts list that Porken sells you. Those other parts you would need to get on your own to complete the job. that way you buy everything you need from one source and don't have to worry about the Audi dealer or auto parts store giving you the wrong stuff.

It's where I got mine from. Roger is a good guy, you'll like dealing with him.

Second vote for Roger being a great guy to deal with.

As for the tensioner, I recall the whole shebang costing somewhere around $400 by the time you get the rollers and everything you need. Rebuild kit price varies depending on how in depth you want to get with it. On the 78 you don't need to top it off with oil after it's installed, so the write ups I've seen mention cleaning, replacing the rubber boot and clamp and filling with oil. The Porkensioner seems to be the way to go if you've got the budget though.

+1 for 928RUs. Roger goes above and beyond. I keep having this jingle in my head for some reason.

"If Rog can't do it, no one can."

Weird, I know.

So for comparison whats the cost on a factory tensioner rebuild?

Maybe typical cost, and cost for the cheapskate that presses out the old bearings and reuses as much of the old parts as possible?

On the older cars unless you have a burning desire to move up to the PKensioner the original system is my first choice as it is simple and cheap to R&R. 77 to 80 US cars in particular.
$ for $ no contest on the earlier cars.
As you move up through the years the need for the PKensioner out weighs the R&R of the original system. Any engine that is interferance or thought to be needs the PKensione in my book.
Just my .5c worth.

Thanks for the kind words and the checks are in the mail 8>)

Porken cost more $ but not going back 1500 miles later and re tension everything was worth it to me.
