Ok some of you followed my post with pics of my rear contol arm breaking.
Got a replaceent and it is now in. The guy who installed it says that now the rough ride may be cause by some rubber tat is bad "at the top". "like a U joint". Now im looking at the breakdown and im not seeing this. Anyone? Trying to fixthe very rough ride in back. visible rubbers all look good.

A picture would help. At least get the guy to circle what he thinks is causing the issue on the diagram.

maybe one of the shocks has a damaged piston or outer casing

I have an 84s as well. When installing the pin that connects the spindle, lower control arm and strut, there is a large washer that will go between the spindle and the shock. I am not talking about the cone washers in the spindle. If this washer is not in the correct place, shaking will occur which seems like a tire out of balance. Thats what I experianced at least. Hope that helps.

to check the shocks, (just in case) open the hatch, push down hard with all your weight on one corner, then the other. the car should move up and down without any binding.
It could be that the control arm is seized or binding as well. try to isolate. Undo the shock and move it out of the way and see it the arm moves freely. It has to be one or the other.

Well, I guess I have the same problem with mine, new boge all the way around, did not replace the upper mounts. More of a rough ride than I expected.

I cured my super-rough ride by jacking the car and letting the wheels hang for a few hours three or five times.
The more I did this (I was working on other stuff under the car), the softer the ride became. It was like the shocks were seized, but forcing the suspension down through their lower range helped wake up the shocks and and now the ride is superb. Didn't cost me a thing. This is my theory, at least.
