I used a lift like the one pictured in this thread to pull my 928 engine(s) without difficulty. I used it in the most extended position from the front of the car. I used a chain between the 2 engine lift points. Before removing the motor mounts and removing the bolts from the bellhousing the hoist would actually lift the entire front of the car. I don't recommend that by the way, I suspect it is hard on everything, but it was an observation made using my lift on a scrap engine and a test of how robust the hoist really was...it passed.

And as others have suggested it is possible on my hoist to extend it another 6" and drill a new hole in the arm for the lock bolt. Certainly not OSHA approved..hence my lifiting test above....and I did use both the support legs....

OK I got the fender off; yeah I just had to pull harder to break the sealant glue stuff. Happy to not find rust underneath considering the amount of leaves and other S* in there.

I've also removed pretty much everything I need to for the engine removal, I just have the motor mounts, four bolts in the "bell housing," and the drive shaft link.

Fender removed:

OK, so I got the engine out yesterday and attached it to the stand today. Hoping to start disassembly today also.
