Stan has got it nailed above.

It is not really that hard, but there is a lot of stuff. It's kinda like removing the dash. It's not that hard, but getting to the point where you actually remove it, there is a lot of stuff.

Good luck. Oh, and don't forget about the GTG on Saturday morning. There will be lots of people there that could give you tips and pointers. Lots of local knowledge about these cars.

God, the last few days, ive been trying to make myself go outside and pull that transmission. Yesterday it was 117 on my front porch. That is too freaking hot to go out into. Now they are saying we are going to have a brownout or whatever they call it.....1980 again? Getting close.

Yuck! Safety is a big concern. No need to roast yourself.

I have found that it is much, much easier to work out at 11-3 am... Its late, but the temperature is tollerable. If only i had a lighted shop to put this thing in. I Would be able to see what i was doing... WE NEED RAIN. This is like day 35 at or above 100..

My car is missing the door panel armrest/vents thing. I need the whole assembly.

How much do they generally cost per side?

I need both, but dont know where to get them.

Thanks!!

eBay or 928 Intl for good used stuff. Sometimes you'll find some good stuff in Pelicans For Sale Forum.

Hey, you can't have had 7 928's without picking up extra stuff along the way!

1982_928 08-05-2011 12:34 PM

What would you be looking to get out of them?

I wont be able to make the GTG tomorrow, forgot that i had plans for then.

If you would ship them, i probably could pay with paypal. ( I dont have a paypal account but know many people that do and would let me use it)

Thanks!

I'll also need to door lock knobs, or whatever they are called that go on the door near the window, if you would be willing to part with some.

Thanks!

...stepson?

stepson 08-08-2011 12:34 PM

Sorry for the delay. I blew up my ethernet controller file on my laptop at home, so I don't have access at home until I get it fixed. Sorry, but I don't have the door lock knobs.

The door pull/armrests are probably worth about $100 a piece. I really don't remember what I paid for them, but that sounds about right to me. You?

1982_928 08-08-2011 02:00 PM

Well, since the delay happened, i found a set that was relatively cheap and purchased them. Sorry. They don't have the compartment lids on them, so if you would like to sell them separately, that would be great.

Sorry that i went ahead and bought the others, i thought the price was right and they were the only others i could find. I figured that i would purchase the others from you as well, but funds are a bit low at the moment.

Thanks!!

stepson 08-09-2011 08:38 AM

I believe that I'll keep them all together and not sell just a portion of them. Good Luck, though.

1982_928 08-09-2011 08:53 AM

Alright. Sorry that i did that. Thanks!

Slowly but surely.....

I got as far as pulling the exhaust last night, and started it up do see what it sounded like.

Sorry that its been a while since ive said anything, been caught up with school and things.

I was going to pull the tranny friday night, but it decided to rain (for the first time in 6 months...) so that didnt work out. Today, i went to a car show in fort worth, so i didnt get to pull it today either. Tomorrow, after i go to church, and go to my grandmothers, if i have time i will get on it.

I got under it and unhooked the wires going to the O2 sensor, got out and looked over in the bay to see if i could get to the nut where the tube coming from the cat was held together. Now, i have looked over this engine about 200 times since i got it running..I looked down at the injectors and was like "WHO THE HELL CAME OVER HERE AND UNHOOKED THE FUEL INJECTOR WIRES".... I went and got the key to see if it would start, and started it and it sounded the same as always. Its been running on 5 cylinders this whole time. I put the 3 on the passenger side that were off and dang....that car sounds 100x better. I feel like a complete idiot.

Slowly but surely... School isnt helping me get it changed any faster, nor did the 110 degree heat during the summer.

I need ideas on what color to paint it. Im leaning towards silver or black, with black it just depends on how straight i can get it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

stepson 09-18-2011 11:26 AM

I would recommend against changing paint color. Did it, got the t-shirt, but wouldn't do it again. Major PITA to do and even bigger PITA to get it done right.

Get it running right, drive the piss out of it, and if you decide you don't like the color, sell it and buy the color you want. My $.02 of advise and worth what you paid for it.
