Where is the relay, or whatever i need to jump, for the alarm?
|
If you have access to another CPU, why not try it. Just realize that if it's out of another car, it may be trash too. If you have parts to try, why not try it? Look at it this way, you are working on the space shuttle of automobiles in 1983. Try what you can. Watch out for burglarizing raccoons. At this rate, I could have built a 928 time machine.

Not a relay.
Alarm jumper is done with female-ended wire on the panel where the Z plug attaches. |
Z plug? Where is that?
|
When i asked where it is, i was on my iphone which didnt show the previous comment on the location of the alarm. I will go look for it.
Thanks! |
Well, after experimenting around with spare parts, and jumping relays, and changing Jetronic CPU's...I pulled the injectors, bought some fuel line, hose clamps, some injector o rings, and let the injectors soak in some carb cleaner.
When i blew them out, some of the nastiest brown crap that ive ever seen came out. Put the injectors on the rails, tightened the hose clamps, and put the car back together. Got in the car, it cranked over about 10 times and fired right up. Idles and sounds great. Checked the transmission, when put in gear, the fluid doesnt make the slightest attempt to move or change level in the reservoir. Didnt get it recorded tonight, because it was after midnight and i didn't want to piss off the people around me. Should be able to get the video of it running on thursday, and will post it here. Thanks for all the help!! |
Good work. Congrats!
Please check that you used high pressure fuel hose 30R9, and not 30R6. Also, I assume you replaced the injector seals for it to work without leaking? |
I used high pressure fuel line, good for 70psi.
Yes, i did change the seals. Thanks!! |
30R9 is the only hose to use. I recently proved this beyond doubt. Not sure how I didn't ignite the car. Lucky, I guess.
|
Yes, redo those Fuel Lines with the proper Fuel Injection hose as said above. Now while you still have a un-burned car. Congrats on getting her back to life!
|
Why would i take it back apart? ive used this fuel line on other cars before and they are still running and driving. The stuff i used is "proper" fuel injection hose.
The stuff that i have might be 30R9. I think i remember seeing something of the sort on the line. |
So you don't die and/or take others with you.
With the tightly packed engine compartment this is a very, very hot application at a pressure that is too close to the 70psi rated pressure of standard fuel injection hose. If you installed it without knowing the marks on the tube, then you've already made a huge mistake. You are on your own. |
Don't take Landseers advice for granted. It's true and fuel next to a hot exhaust manifold pumping under high pressure get's out of control real fast. Heed the Warning.
|
I thought that the fuel pressure was 39psi. Not close to 70.
What is the psi then? |
It feels good when that thing starts up right for the first time doesn't it?
EFI hose (30R9) must be used in this application. I used incorrect hose on my '84 once, and drove around with it for a while, but when I realized I had grabbed the wrong length of hose to cut from, I changed it out to the correct hose. A fuel under pressure fed fire burns really hot and fast! Now.....on to your transmission. I would recommend draining and removing the pan just to see if there are fragments left behind. If not, you can at least replace your filter. It'll cost you @ $25.00 plus ATF. |
Tomorrow, i will check what fuel hose i put on the car.
On the transmission: How would the filter manage to get so stopped up that it wouldnt even attempt to move the car? I wonder if the torque converter bolts got taken out or something and the PO wasnt told. He said that he had never had it hook up. And yes, it feels great when it starts up as it should. |

Crude analogy, but the same applies to a clogged up ATF filter. |
Idle fuel pressure is 39 psi, full throttle is 14 psi higher, but the pump will do better than 90 psi and plenty of glitches could make it go that high.
30R9 is max working pressure of 100 psi, but burst pressure is 900 psi. |
alright, ill pull the pan and see what the filter does. Still would think that the level would change in the reservoir when it is put in gear, and at least hook up. They couldnt have possibly driven it until it got that bad, because they wouldnt be able to exceed a few MPH.. Unless sitting has done it some harm
