trunk latch/ cargo area

SO my trunk was stuck shut for a long time, I lost the key, huge fiasco.tried getting in touch with a lock smith , he had a few screws loose so that was a lost cause.. I bought that parts 928 the other day and took the mechanism off the trunk. crawled into mine, figured out where everything lined up, drilled a small hole, slid a screw driver through the pilot hole and popped the latch. .. the donor latch had a key that fit it, so i sanded it down repainted it, and now I have a trunk that works. .. right before i lost the key, i took everything out of the trunk, taped off the wires and interior, sanded out the battery well, removed the gasket, primed it all, and sprayed it with black undercoating. I finally got it open, so I could finally post the pics!

I have a similar problem. Locked and no key Is there a way to release the lock from inside without doing any damage? I have another lock barrel and key but would rather open ,remove barrel and change contents to fit ignition key.

There should be a pull knob by the seat on the cover of the emergency brake handle. Next to the fader switch. Pulling up the knob with a door open is supposed to open the hatch. Of course you need your electrical system working and good grounds, especially on the door switch. If your interior lights come on when you open the doors then the door ground should be good. Also, there is an identical pull knob on the passenger side. You may also need to adjust the arm on the motor to open the hatch and of course if the mechanism is worn it may not open. Good luck.

no, it is cashmere beige. it is like a khaki color, there are more pics in my garage photos. yours looks a a little more yellow. i really like it though. I like the unique 928 colors that didnt stay in production long.

i drilled a small hole, less than 1/4 inch. it was easy and it gets covered by the carpet. I can post a pic of the hole and where it is. I just lined up my new barrel piece, figured out where the hole had to be in order to pop the strike and push it back enough to disengage. 10 minute job.

Thanks for the info I will try that. Did not want to destroy the body or frame to open the hatch.
please send a pic to waynestrutt@295.ca
