Even the dyno wasn't on your side.. i love watching your videos, you should have a printout of your dyno sheet in your car laminated so next time you beat an LS3 you show then you've only got 270hp at the wheels. that'll be a sight to see. LOL

I know. It's cool. I have a lot of safety and suspension mods, just a chip exhaust and headers on the engine side. but on the plus side I did smoke a Mustang, Saab (wtf- I know) and several Miata's. The 370 and 2 400+ hp Evos did get the better of me though

A breathed-on 951 should be in the range of 275 hp and 300 ft-lbs at the wheels based on dyno sheets from mine. Assuming a 15% drivetrain loss, that's about 315 hp and 345 ft-lbs at the crank. The 951 weighs in at just over 2,700 pounds. The NISMO Z is a bit of a porker at 3,300 pounds and is down on torque. I can see a Z pulling away a bit on the basis of gearing due to the 6-speed transmission, but there's no a stock 370Z, even a NISMO, should walk a breathed-on 951 like it was standing still. Throw some mods on the Z, however, and all the flab on those cars will start getting mitigated really quick and we'll be breathing exhaust.

The class that the Z is in is for heavy modified cars.. the next class for him is full race. so he's FAR from stock
btw I saw one of his vids where he missed a shift and the motor went to 9k rpm.. and he just put it in the right gear and kept going. I would have been sweeping motor parts off the track if I did that

![]() I think something is bad with your car or maybe the driver.. Its sure if you have 300 HP VS whatever the car with 500 hp.. this is the effect you gonna have to get sticked to a post. Plus I dont understand your "no body has a 944 of 4-500hp". Heu.. YES! You will spend money but you can make it. Take exemple on this 951. Its approx 4-500hp.

Read what he wrote, and this time pay attention. He said that no-one had "tuned" a 951 to 4-500 horsepower. And that's absolutely true. Getting 400 to 500 hp out of a 951 requires a hell of a lot more than just a "tune." For those numbers you're getting into things like a stroker crankshaft, an aftermarket turbo, and a custom engine management system. That's not a "tune," that's a full race build. A "tune" is what he described, little more than a chip and exhaust, things that can be done without ever opening up the engine.

![]() Tuning includes this kind of modifications too sir. I think i'll give you the exact tuning definition from Wikipedia Car tuning is both an industry and a hobby, in which an automobile, motor bike, scooter or moped is modified in order to improve its performance, handling and appearance and improve the owner's driving style. [...] 2 Areas of modification 2.1 Audio 2.2 Interior tuning 2.3 Engine tuning 2.4 Suspension tuning 2.5 Body tuning 2.6 Tires 2.7 Detuning

2) The phrase "engine tuning" does not mean that any work done to an engine is a "tune." Adding a chip is a "tune." Replacing the crankshaft is not. Just calling chipping a car "engine tuning" doesn't change the fact that adding a stroker crank is not a "tune." Sorry kiddo, but when you talk with people who have decades of experience, a "tune" is something you can do without having to crack the block and you're just plain not going to get a 951 into the 400-500 hp range without a full on race build for the engine.

secondy, there is nothing wrong with my car, my Mom says it's perfect. thirdly, I admit I'm no Mario Andretti. but I know when I'm being out driven and when I'm out car'd. Simple fact is 951's are not fast anymore. period. yeah, you can throw money at them and make them competive, but in the end you will just barely be holding your own against many modern cars delivered from Nissan, Subaru,Mitsu, among others. Then if those guys decide to upgrade their stuff, your all done.. I love my car but I can see it for what it really is and isn't

Pete, I agree with you. Many other cars are "superior" now but for exemple a 951 1988 cars, they are very amazing.
P.S: Don't take my previous mad with the eyes closed, I was just kidding

exactly, NO other cars from the 80's were even on the track let alone going by me. 951's are FAR superior in that respect. The OP wanted a comparison to modern cars.
No offence taken, I don't take words on a message board to heart.

Whoever said that a 951 weighs 2700lbs is a little optimistic. They come stock at about 3000lbs. Then add the usual bigger wheels / tyres / brakes. To get one down to even 2700lbs takes a bit of dieting. btw, the Red car in the link you posted only had about 350bhp...but it was much lighter and had bigger rubber (slicks) and wings. This is why it could compete with a Cup Car.
