Hopefully we will see you out there.
I’ll be there with the 964 and it would be great to see you and catch. I can totally understand not wanting to do a cross country drive, that’s a bit much unless you really spread it out to enjoy the right roads and destinations.

My car will be in the coral starting Thursday. See you there!

I haven’t had to do much to the 964 this past year but there are some small bits and pieces that aren’t perfect which I will be addressing, I’ll post up my progress as I start working through these improvements. In the meantime I’m driving and enjoying the car.

Thanks! I thought I had posted some pictures right after installing the new wheels but I realize now I haven’t. ☺️

Here are some pictures right as we finished up a canyon run a couple of weeks ago.

What are the specifications on those wheels and tires? I like the fit.

They’re Augment Forged two piece Campy Style wheels, 17" x 8" ET52 front and 17" x 9.5" ET47 rear.

Nice. That looks like a good offset for our cars. What size tires did you choose?

Fronts Tires: 225/45/17
Rear Tires: 255/40/17

I find this combo works well in the corners with a nice balance of grip between the front and rear.

Ok I promised some additional project details….here’s one of them.

Last year when I showed the car in concours I was dinged for the condition of the rubber sill trim which had some chunks taken out of it and not surprisingly worn due to age. I decided to replace both door sills so they matched and everything looked new again. The driver side door seal also had some tears in it from shoes dragging over it so that was also added to the list of parts to be replaced.

Like any project on an old car you always get a surprise, in my case either the rubber trim was replaced a long time ago or had lifted and the previous shop used some heavy duty double sided table to anchor them back down. Unfortunately for me that tape decided to adhere to the paint so I had to scrape it off carefully using a plastic razor. Fortunately this didn’t cause any damage to the paint. After a thorough cleaning I installed the new rubber and the door seal. The door seals need permatex seal glue to get them to stay in place in certain spots but overall they fit very accurately into the slot. They do need some time to compress so the door takes some extra effort to close.

Here’s a few pictures of the drivers side.

Some may also see the next project in progress in the door sill pictures.

They should be adhered using 3M double stick panel tape. 2 strips about 1/4" by the length of it. I use a plastic scraper and heat to remove them. The last set I installed came with the double stick tape already applied to the unit.
I see you pulled the rockers off.

Same, new set of rubber trim had the double sided tape already attached so it was a simple installation once the door seal was out of the way.

Good eye on the rockers, that project is nearly done although what a rabbit hole that was with all the cleaning that came with it.

trust me the gunk I have found on some 964's after pulling the right rocker especially. You would think an animal was living there so much grime and grease.

You know i don't miss anything LOL.

I have been working on my sons new toy an Audi B5 S4 avant. What a fun little toy with stage 2 it is a little rocket but after its entire life living in Idaho it was covered in their mud on the underside. Surprisingly it protected all the original paint and is rust free after 23 years and 150k miles.

keep up the good work.

Second BTW I am about to finally get the ***** Box project back underway and the Blue Meanie twin turbo is getting close to completion.

beautiful car sir, this color puts me in mind of atlas grey, absolutely one of the top colors of porsche, and, reading the thread i have to ask, as i am not aware of the 'problem' with rennlist...what am i, or have i been, missing? i have had many positive and informative interactions over the years, maybe being as far removed as i am in germany leaves me in the dark, but that distance thing doesn't really apply out here in the 'ether', either....sorry, couldn't he'p myself....smiley face goes here...again, awesome 964, and really likin' the leather interior, special...and your leather repairs are better than photoshop...another smiley...

Thanks! It’s a great color and I agree it does have similarities to Atlas which I also love. If I was seeking a 997 that would be my first choice.

Moderators were fed up with babysitting the politics forum and requested that it be removed from Rennlist. It was divisive and causing issues throughout the forum. That and there were a few bad actor advertisers that had left members high and dry and IB refused to remove them even after some nasty correspondence. Net result was moderators were booted and many members opted to stop posting. Majority of the members are excellent and very helpful. I still go there frequently for information.
