Rear bump stops on boot lid
Hey,
Sorry another dumb newbie question, but what does the part in the picture do? It looks like a metal cup, but it has rubbed the paint away on the back cross member. Maybe you can just make it out from the picture with the red arrow pointing at it. ![]() Also is it normal that the rubber bump stops on the lid rub the paint away when it closes on the back ? ![]() I hope the picture show is. Cheers Alex |

The switch on the left side is for the engine light and alarm, it typically has a rubber cap on it that wears/ages with time and needs to be replaced. The wear on the rear painted area is fairly common if the rubber is worn and if the car isn’t kept perfectly clean.

It's been a few years since I bought a replacement rubber cover from a dealer but they weren't expensive. Many times you'll see the same style boot missing in the door jab at the switch for interior lights. I never understood why sellers didn't fix such simple things that cost little but are so noticeable.

Hey guys,
So there should be some rubber part on that metal cup on the lid? If so I suppose I should get one. I just got the car last month and as its winter here in Finland I have no opportunity to drive it, so can tackle those little things I am finding. Just wondering if I am brave enough to change the plugs and leads.... From what I have managed to find on the net it seems a bit challenging, but at a cost of over 1000 Eur (1100 USD) I think I will give it a go.. Cheers again Alex |

So I found a spare rubber part in the glove box
![]() But putting it on it just split ![]() So another part to add to the list. I had a quick look at a spare original electric boot but that did not have the switch there? One on my boot was supposed to be from a CUP car, but not sure. The fixed wing looks quite nice on it in my opinion. Alex |

Check your door pin switches as well they usually all go over time and are the same part I believe. They eliminated the pin switch in 92 and went with a switch in the locking mechanism both front and rear.

I think the cover you want is 993-613-602-00 Rubber Cap for Door Pin Switch.
Why the rear engine lid bump stops are rubbing thru the paint may be they are too loose and the lid is moving slightly because of this. Try adjusting them or get replacements 999-703-140-40. |

Hey,
Cheers for your replies and I will get a new rubber cover as they are only 4 Eur or so. I will check the bump stops and maybe have those areas touched up so they don't rust and put some clear plastic there to protect in the future. Thanks again Alex |
