Is there a trick to pull a tip trans off a 3.6?

I need to pull a Tip trans off the 3.6 engine I bought. All the bolts are out, starter is off. For the life of me I can't see anything holding it all together but the trans won't move but a couple mm, like it's bound up on something. I know the correct way to pull a manual trans off, with the clutch fork having to disengage. Do I need to unbolt the small 5mm allens that look like they hold the torque converter to the flywheel?

That's what it looked like but didn't want to do something wrong. I've never pulled a tip before and frankly don't care to ever again. Some of the trans nuts were at royal pain to get to.

Were you able to separate the trans? To unbolt the torque converter, you have to access the bolts through the starter hole. Rotate the torque converter around until you see the next bolt, remove that one, and so on. After all of the bolts are removed, the trans should separate.

Yup, got it off this morning. Got at the 5mm allen head bolts through the starter hole. Thanks all

I recently resealed my 91 tip top end and trans separated from engine torque converter stsyed bolted to engine. I had no need to split the cases so just left it that way

You will need to unbolt the TC and install it (properly seated) to the tip, then bolt up the tip, followed by bolting the TC to the flywheel, through the starter hole.

If you don't do it this way, you risk, YES RISK, snapping the tip shaft key!
