Thumbs up 993 Dash light on!! Help!!

I have a dash lamp that comes on every so often. It's just below the anti lock lamp and just to the left of the park brake lamp. It's got a circle with 3 dash's on each side of it running vertically. I have no idea what it's supposed to indicate! It's lights up red, and when it comes on, it lights up the large red lamp on the top of the gage with the exclamation mark on it. I'm thinking it's a bad thing. I don't have a manual to look it up and am hoping someone out there in Porscheville knows what this is and what I need to do to make it stop coming on. I'll try posting a pic of what Im talking about, but know in advance the pic's are very glare y. Thanks in advance for any help. Ric.

That's a brake pad wear warning light. You need to check your pads - and replace as needed. You also will need a new sensor(s) on the pad(s) that triggered / wore into the sensor.

HTH!

If it lights up for a few seconds at start up, then goes off (a few seconds after the rest of the warning lights go out, that is typical). Usually takes mine (993TT) till I get down the driveway and on the road in front of my home before it goes out. But having said that, checking on the brake pads is still a good maintenance item and as aigel wrote, replace both pads and sensors if they are worn thru.

Thanks for the info. The lamp comes on while Im driving every so often. Not always. I will check into it. Last time I looked the pads seemed in pretty good condition. Any recommendations on what I should replace them with? Thanks again for your help. Ric.

Unless you track your car the Textar OEM is recommended.
